I'm surprised California hasn't outlawed central vacuum systems yet

In California, politicians are banning electric cars, gas appliances, and gas mowers for the next 10 years because of "climate change", due to greenhouse gasses causing air pollution. I'm surprised Gavin Newsom hasn't banned central vacuums because they vent dirty air into the atmosphere. Now if studies show that central vacuums have a negative impact on the environment, then environmental groups will protest the central vacuum manufacturers to the point of going out of business. I predict the stupid leftists are going to outlaw them because they think it's "bad for the environment." But here's a thing, central vacuum manufacturers make a filter called the Activac II HEPA filter. It fits every make of central vacuum and it's great in tight spaces where venting to the outside isn't possible. Bagged central vacuums like the MD units have 3-layer HEPA TruSeal bags that filter so well that they almost never need to vent outside. Cyclonic and inverted filter central vacuums need to be vented outside due to the lack of filtration. The MDs don't. They have fantastic filtration IMO. Also, if central vacuums are banned, then asthmatics don't have a vacuum system that's going to exhaust to outside.

I don't understand-why are California poloticians banning electric cars-I thought that was what they wanted people in California to buy.No tailpipes-no emissions! No oil changes or oil-air filter changes.I have an electric Toyota BZ4X car and love it!I am NOT a leftist guy!

Since central vacs transfer inside conditioned air to the outside, I figured they would be targeted for energy efficiency violations, too.
I also thought they wanted ICE vehicles banned and promote only electric. OF course they may want to ban both. Because they can.
Welcome to the little country of Cali...

Give them time...

They want everything operated by a battery that's going to crap out in a year or so. My sister's robot vacuum will just die in the middle of "cleaning".

They'll probably argue that central vacs consume too much power for their fragile energy grid.

Not just California

New York has also banned gas stoves. All new homes and buildings will be all electric no gas. Now what this has to do with "Maga's" or the "proud boys" is the question of the day. Why don't you just blame Trump? Again, we were told by our friends on the left there was "nothing to see here." This was just the right trying to make this "administration look bad"...remember? Just more of the blame game nothing new. It's all about the green new deal.

"Elections have consequences" Obama: Nov.21, 2014....own it!

It's more like

If you want to bring politics into it on these pages, I'm more then happy to get into the mud with you. "If you can't take it, then don't dish it out"...simple. I can take the slings and arrows where others are afraid to speak out because they might be blackballed here.

Try keeping politics out of it, and I'll do the same....simple. I didn't start this. Maybe you can get the web master to make this a liberal web sight with no conservatives allowed. Then you can put conservatives down without being challenged.

The Contemporary forum kind of has evolved into the catch all "main page" of the site. The admin adding a "news" section to the forum for both website news, vacuum news, and real life news all in one would probably be a good idea. Let people play in the 'mud pit' and speak their mind there.

I don't think central vacs are on the leftist radar. While we like them it's not an essential part of life. Like a gas stove. Personally, I think there is a deeper reason for banning anything but electric. Electric can be turned off easier than gas, if we don't comply. Yes, that is a theory going around.

huskyvac,

We have a page here where you should be able to do that, the miscellanea page. Problem is you need to be a paying member to use it. Even there as we have seen in the past people want to talk politics and such but get upset or want to have the page removed when they see or hear something they don't like, or if they are challenged.

I can disagree with some ones politics and still be friends with them. I don't care who you vote for or who you sleep with. I can appreciate and share what we do have in common like old vacuums, and hopefully be able to still build a good friendship around that. It seems to some this was or is their "safe space" and yes they do not want to be challenged or hear an apposing point of view.

I have many liberal friends who enjoy locking horns with me from time to time, but we can agree to disagree and focus on the things we can agree on. If you take the time to get to know someone you can always find things you share in common. Life is to short for hate, and I for one don't want to die with hate in my heart.

Thanks for your input.

Jim
