Im on a role two more rare ( for SA )Hoovers

I was just sitting down uploading pics of my latest find, a dyson dc11 when there was a knock on the door, a friend who frequents recycling plants brought me these two beauty's A 419 No pipes and a powerplus dustcup model. The 419's were popular in there day but the powerplus was not due to the fact that All other uprights available at the time were clean air hard bagged vacuums and it was seen as old tech.From what I have been told many of these were sent back ( from stores) to the factory were the were fitted with orange hoods and bags , longer cords and sold as commercial versions

Were these manufactured in South Africa.

Another interesting variant of the Powerplus - does it have a headlight? It looks like it does. Regular line Hoover Powerplus models were not supplied with headlights (I believe there was at least one softbag exclusive with headlight) and our dustcup models came in a dark burgandy colour. They were not that popular here either.

The 419 looks like a later production version - you are really lucky that it came with the hose connector (even without the hose) as this style of connector was not used on any other hoover model that I know of. Were they also supplied in different colour schemes in SA?

Hoover 425

Posted a couple of questions about the age of a Hoover 425 and then found this post. Please have a look as you seem to have an interest in this sort of early model.

Gareth,Great Hoovers.Love the tank!Don't quite like this bag system on anyones UR as it seems you always spill some of the dust.Is handle grip original?Looks different from US & England?--Vacbear,Great Hoovers,great picture!The curtain almost looks like US floral bag Convertible(Senior).
