If you owned Hoover, what changes would you make?

I would bring back the Elite bagged series for those who just want a good decently priced cleaner. I would keep the bag less uprights as that’s what the consumers want by large, but I would also bring back more bagged uprights in general and market those a little more heavily than the bag less models to try to bring those back into popularity/standard. I would bring more manufacturing back to the US too. Not completely get rid of my overseas and international operations but use them for more regional manufacturing, basically manufacture the US lineup in the US mostly if not entirely and do the same with line ups in other countries where the products are sold. And for say products I’d want to sell in the UK I would probably do what Maytag did and just market them under a different name (IE US: Hoover Windtunnel UK: Maytag Windtunnel)

TTI owns Vax in the UK, so it'd be under that name. This is actually already kinda done, with the Vax/Hoover OnePWR series

I do not really care as much as some may about where the vacuum cleaners are made or whether they are bagged or bagless, but in the United States, I would just like to see them stop decreasing the build quality to the extent that they have. I receive so many of the new Hoovers, even ones that are less than a year old, with a plethora of issues such as the bases cracking around the rear wheels, the attachment clips breaking or just flat out refusing to hold attachments, clips and latches breaking or fatiguing to the point where they no longer perform their intended task, and so forth. For example, just look at the WindTunnel 3 Max Performance Pet. The design itself has had a few variants over the years, but it definitely had some competent engineering behind it and would be a fine unit with even better plastic quality alone. Sadly, Hoover/TTI has removed the changeover that switched between the hose and the base, ditched the brush roll shutoff, and made them overly flimsy.

Now that I have complained about them to such a degree, I will praise them for what I think they are doing well. To name a big one, the ONEPWR lineup is solid, especially the bagged model that I heard will be replaced. Even the Evolve is very decent, and I have not even had a chance to try the new Elite version. I also love my ONEPWR flashlight that runs off the same battery. I do not think I have ever charged that thing and it was super cheap.

Another thing I think Hoover does well is making an extremely cheap extractor such as the PowerScrub Elite and Deluxe that work well enough for the average user on a budget. Heck, I have used my PowerScrub Deluxe for over five years and it has been wonderful and I even set up two friends with their own. They are nice for somebody who is tight for money, perhaps in their first home or apartment, and/or does not want something big and heavy, because they work well and are so simple that they last a decent amount with proper care.

I would also selfishly like to see them bring back a canister. I liked Hoover's canisters back in the day such as the WindTunnel canisters in the 2000s, despite them being outdated in design. With a bit of refining, they could compete. Kenmore still makes a decent canister, but Hoover could swoop in there and make one that is better. For example, the Hoovers had the superior bag design and Kenmore still uses the same dated dock. Somebody needs to give the Kenmore canisters some competition!

I’d like to see Hoover start making canisters again, more bagged models and bring back commercial machines like the Convertible and Conquest designs.

But I know ultimately there is a reason they’re no longer making any of them anymore.

I second these posts but I'd personally add my favorite vacuum of all time the hoover model 750, make parts for all and to compete with bagless machines I'd bring back the original hygienisac.
I'd even bring back including but not limited to the model 60 and some machines I'd put the handle release in the grip.

Forget bagless

1. Bring back the original elite.
2. Bring bag the shop vacs they made
3. Made in USA
4. Make a bagged dust buster :)
