I want your opinion about a thrift store Electrolux

Okay I was at a thrift store yesterday here in my town and saw an Electrolux Tri-vac in the brown Olympia color. It was in good condition, sounded great and had great suction. The price tag was $22.00. I think that's a little too high for a 30 year old stick vac however it is a rare one. We asked her if she would come down but she said the only thing she would do is give me the bags for it for the $22.00 instead of selling me the bags seperate. She got the bags out of a drawer and I saw the Tri-vac box of bags BUT the bags inside were Hoover Convertible C bags. Itold her these were Hoover bags and she went all Bitch mode and argued with me about it. It said Hoover on the bag yes, but it said Electrolux on the box, therefore they were Electrolux bags. So my question is what would you do? I really want the vacuum but don't want to pay quite that much.

Wait til dark - throw a brick through the window, grab said machine and bags. Sell bags on EBay. Keep the vacuum.

I'd bite the bullet and buy it..they're not that common especially down there... bags were discontinued but some Aerus dealers may have new replacement bags.. otherwise you just make something else fit. I have the tan one.. sold the blue/gray a few years ago and wished now I'd kept it.

Find a new employee to deal with at the thrift store. If not, pony up the $22- its for charity. Enjoy your really unique machine.

well she is the owner and the only one working there. She is a very well off older lady that owns a fried chicken place and does the thrift store as a hobby, no charity here.
I really do want the vacuum, at this time I will hold off but I know it's not going any place soon, I will post pictures of it. Thanks for the info.

Oh, one of those bored rich people. I'd just buy the vacuum and pass on the bags, free or not. She's wealthy, she's an expert on everything. How dare you correct her!

Buy it and bin the bags, for people like that, their just blissfully ignorant and refuse to understand that there are people out there that are brighter than they are...

Actually, I recently found a good use for Hoover bags, the H1 (here in the UK) or C (there in the US) bags make great storage containers for a lot of things, being so damned thick and stiff, I have one in a box of Junior parts that I filled up to the top with motor parts, wiring and other fairly sharp edged items, so, there you have a use for the bags...

Heck, you could probably use them for your shopping too...
