I found this Tri-star for 125 dollars. Just wondering if it is worth it. It doesn't appear to be in good cosmetic shape, and it's not the kind of finish that can be polished with metal polish or painted. It also doesn't come with any attachments! Should I wait for an older silver one, or see if this one is still available and buy it? Do even the modern Tristars not have a retractable cord?

Here are some pics... is it worth the price?

Few second hand vacuums are worth $125 ,you should know that!!!! LOL
The most I have ever paid for one iirc is about $50 maybe $75 but that was just once and I think it was that blue royal pot canister from the Restore and hindsight it was too much.
Now that Tristar certainly doesn't look like it's worth $125, you already have your doubts so save your money..
Something better always always always comes along.

Thanks guys... I've been wanting a Tri-star for a while, and I don't see them on CL very much. But, I don't want to settle either! I will pass up on this one and wait for the right CXL to come along... and I will get the attachments too!

I paid 200 bucks for my Kirby G5 used and 100 for the Dyson... I haven't regretted the Kirby at all... the Dyson a little bit, because it smelled like a dog, is my least favorite model (DC14), and was missing the turbine tool (which I don't like anyway, however)... though I use it more than any other machine I have. I know Tri-stars go for quite a bit of money even used on Ebay, but this obviously isn't the machine for me. Thanks again guys for some realistic opinions/advice!

Bobby, I think you made a wise decision. Seems to that I have heard that those wands can be very problematic at times but I could be wrong on that.

What would you say is an appropriate price for say a used CXL or an older Tri-star that is complete? I don't want to get ripped off, but I don't want to insult a seller either. I don't "need" a Tri-star like I just HAD to have a Miele canister and a Kirby G series and a Dyson... I would just kind of like one, so I'm not desperate! I know people are TRYING to sell them on Ebay for 2 and 3 hundered dollars, but I don't know what they should actually go for! I'm not big on canisters and don't know much about Tri-stars. Thanks!

I would suggest checking Craigslist on a daily basis I stumbled upon a complete Tristar CXL for 30.00 came with 12 bags power nozzle and all attachments!
