only a suggestion

it's only a suggestion, but if you feel like your collection is too large to manage, then think about downsizing it. A collection shouldn't be judged only by quantity. By selling off/trading, or even giving away vacuums that don't "fit" with your other vacuums or have some special significance, you may be able to get something that you really like - or at least have more space to work with. Sometimes we tend to collect things that are easily obtained, rather than what we really want. (My comment was very general, not about any particular collections.)

They may be more space than you think Alex. Try the arrangement you have and if it doesn't work, then try another one :)

Btw, madabouthoovers that Orange Sanyo upright looks really nice! :D

Space Deficiency

I know the feeling well!! Whilst I do not actually 'collect' vacuum cleaners (having only four now IIRC), I do have far more 'stuff' than I have places to put it.... ;-)

If I could be said to 'collect' anything at the moment, it would be Tektronix 7000 Series oscilloscopes and their 'plug-ins'. I have recently made the (very) painful decision to 'downsize' my collection, and here are the reasons, which apply fairly well to vacuums or anything else.

1) The growing collection is tying up space
2) The growing collection is tying up money
3) These are 'extremely' complex electronic items which are now around 40 years old. Consequently, I am attempting to keep a few 'similar' or identical models, in order to have a common 'spares pool', and to get rid of models which have unique parts which will prove difficult and/or very expensive to replace as and when. Several of the more 'exotic' plug-ins which I have recently acquired have come in a mainframe which I don't really need, and while I would love to have 'one of every model', I am aware that it's not really a practical proposition for a person of limited means living on this side of the 'pond'.... :-(

As Steven Wright said... " You can't have everything.... Where would you keep it??? "

All best

How's the re-arrangements going Alexhoovers? Still incurring your mother's wrath?

Thanks for the comment on my Sanyo RootCyclone, I don't know much about it other than it cost me £12 and had been virtually unused for years in someone's loft. I've never seen another one like it an that colour.

Ohh, no matter where I put them they are still "in her way" they can be in the corner of the room and she will still find a way of tripping over them!!

Going off at a tangent, but I just LOVE the way my dad keeps helping himself to my Henry to suck up DIY mess in the kitchen! Glad I have got my 90's Henry locked away in my wardrobe!
I swear if I catch him using any of my uprights he will be for it!!!!!

But Alexhoovers - can you not do a loft conversion - one of our junior members has a lof conversion and keeps many of his vacs up there?
You could turn the entire loft of your house into a shrine to the worship of Hoover Turbopowers lol

but there is enough crap up there already.

Now now Alex, that's no way to talk about your mother's prize belongings lol
I'll bet she thinks your room is full of crap hehehehehe

Perhaps she wouldn't mind you keeping them in the garden?

Yeah - we get that problem with "rag and bone" men in Stoke, coming in our back yards and helping themselves - flaming thieves nicked a set of wheels that I took off my car.
