I Splurged and Bought One...

Well, I decided to go ahead and buy a Dyson DC25 Animal, and at $484.99, I thought that was a pretty good price for it. Considering it's $550 everywhere else. I am not to sure about this one. I really do like it, and ball technology is neat and convenient. I don't like how the dusting brush and crevice tool are combined. I prefer the two separate tools, like on my DC14. Because when you use the dustin brush part on this, the hose tightens up, which gets on my nerves sometimes. I really like the newly designed turbo tool. It is MUCH smaller, it spins a lot faster, and doesn't bog down as easily. The cord is also pretty short on this model. If I can't push it on my deep pile carpet at my other house, then it will have to go back. I will find out tomorrow. And in that case, I will end up getting the DC 23 Animal, or the regular one, I am not sure. But I thought I'd share!

I think that's the model my brother had, didn't even last until the warranty ran out, not sure what he got as a replacement though...

He's the opposite to me, he keeps telling me that Dyson is the best and will outclean anything I have, but I now follow that up with something along the lines of strength and reliability...

Make sure you purchase a steel plumbers snake, otherwise you will have to pay a service charge to get the clogs removed in the front and side intake tubes. Be careful when you vacuum up anything other than "normal" dirt, because you will cake material frequently on the front of the nozzle and it will require service to clean it out...that's due to a lack of air flow in the nozzle area around the brush roll. Oh yea, and speaking of brush rolls, make sure you clean any pet hair off of it frequently, maybe once or twice per month- if not, you will have a brushroll issue in the near future.

Otherwise, it sounds like a great machine!! Good luck with it.

Chase, I hope it works out for you. (thanks for responding about the Hoover Platinum on the other thread btw).... does it come with the "flat out" bare floor tool? I still like the original bare floor tool better (though not coupled with a Dyson.... the short telescopic wand and hose that snaps tight and makes the machine bite ankles makes a Dyson upright impossible to use effectively as a straight suction canister).

Let us know how it goes.... I'm still waiting for the mini-Blueprint to come on Craig's List! Sometimes I just miss the original Fantoms!

I personally think its a poor machine... It wouldnt pick up a single dog hair when i used it,the canister was full, but it had great suction out of the hose.

It's going back...

It's terrible on any carpet besides deep pile! I thought it would be the opposite.. On short and medium pile carpeting, it just kind of glides right over and leaves barely any lines. Its a war with the hose when you want to use the turbine nozzle or the crevice tool... The ball design is nice, and I really do like that. My mom even used it and said it was the best vacuum she has ever used. But it's just not for my house..
