How old is the one in the FIRST picture? I like the white top. Did Filter Queen ever make a solid white vacuum?

Canadian Filter Queens

Well, I do love the reliable Filter Queens - both of my Grandmothers had only Filter Queens. My Mom called them old fashioned and always had Electroluxs.

Here's the 4 I've found, all made in Canada. Three Model 700's that pull 87" and an older Model 31 that pulls 91". - it's the one to the right I fitted out with the powerhead and a spare Lux clip-on cord. Sure would like a genuine period FQ powerhose or a brown clip-on someday, tho.

Two different kinds of tool ring (one type hangs the crevicetool low on the side making it much easier to fit on a shelf). I've 'discovered' the floor tool fits quite nicely on the polish pad holder. The motor housing on the 31 has the cord emerging from the left side relative to the power outlet socket.

The duplicate 700 on the left I'm getting ready to gift to buddy Stanley as hios house is all hardwood floors and his Connie tends to scratch as it floats.

To complete his FQ I'm looking for the double S wands, floor and upholstery tools. I know I've got another tool ring around here somewhere...

On that famous Pete & Dave Micro Meet Blitz I found the FQ Accessories Suitcase witrh all the contents. Digging further into the pile of parts under the table I grabbed every FQ piece I could find and stuffed the suitcase more. Thus I have pink accessories as well.

Here's an assortment.

The bases on the Circulaires have different mold patternes.

The knobs are different shapes on the two Demothers.

There are two types of Hairdryer pouches. I'm sure Grammas' hairdryers were brown...

The sprayers with the Sudser head in pink or brown.

Real nice is the complete Suds Queen Kit, that came with a full bottle of Suds Concentrate and two vials of Pine and 'Minty' scent.

The Suds Brush is longer than the usual brush and has no intake opening - clearly just for scrubbing, not vacuuming up the dried mousse.

So exciting you'll be compelled to build strangely thrilling ameobic foam sculptures on your carpet while hubby Richard slops together that filthy mud Devil's Tower on the dining room table. :-)

Dave those are beautiful Filter Queens, thanks for sharing them with us. Can you imagine putting all those suds on your rug.... what a sticky mess!!

Terry, I can imagine...

...and that's what gets me into those 'I Love Lucy' situations.

When I replaced the tired old electric water softener with the new on demand non-electric hydro-mechanical Kinetico the first Laundry was a hoot, with suds pushing up the washer lid. I laughed and laughed...cause what else could ya do? Kinda creepy haveing suds come up from the floor drain. LOL

If I ever get around to it in the Spring I'd like to do the livingroom carpet in strips using the Kirby, FQ and various Electrolux rug washing systems. The fantastic Hoover Floor Washer from Tom is tasked to the kitchen floor, even when it gets replaced with seamless wall to wall battleship lino.

Dave are you going to shampoo your davenport per the instructions? Who even knows what a davenport is anymore LOL Or if their wool rugs have jute backing..

There was a Dawn Davenport in the John Waters film "Female Trouble" LOL. My Grandmother always refered to the sofa or couch as the davenport, it was a Pullman sleeper, and she had a wool rug or something like it, all I know as a small child it was scratchy, she had a really old Hoover Upright that I was terified of at the time, couldn't tell you the model but it was replaced with a green and brown Convertible 1010? 1070?,I liked that one. anyway nice Filter Queens,I have two,one 60's brown one a mid 80's brown and chrome, that one is my favorite, second is the model 31 that applianceguy found,I like the cream color top with the extra trim piece on top. Mark

Dave you should have taken pictures of the suds coming out of the washer!! I love Lucy for sure!!
