I need to CLEAR THE AIR!, concerning the newsletter.

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

Hi Tom.

Minor correction. The original 'meeting' was held in Chesterton, Indiana May 4, 5, 6, 1985, and consisted of John Lucia, Mike Pupek, Tom Shimmik, Norbert Miller, Anne R. Taber  (club secretary) and me.  Then in August (85) I bought a house in Naperville, Illinois and made that V.C.C.C. headquarters. All meetings were in my home, mostly in my museum  which was a former 3 car garage, transformed into the V.C.C. clubhouse. And that was what you were in that spring of 93. That was the last of the in-home meetings, from there we went to Hoover in 94, and to the home of Bob Kautzman (Vac-Hunter) in 95. But from 85 to 93, I ran it all. The term 'convention' was never a part of my gatherings. As I said the idea was to have fun and learn from each other. You were the first person to offer a vacuum cleaner give away when you brought a van load of vacuum cleaners for distribution. And I still have the cardboard box to the Electrolux model LX that you gave me.

Those were fun times, simpler times, and some of my best memories.

I remember when we had nothing......

I remember the vacweb.com forum. When I first found it I thought I hit a gold mine. I printed out by month all the archives. I found so much knowledge about vacuums their. Then it was closed. A very sad day for me.

I am a member here and enjoy it very much. I post a few things now and then and made a library up of my collection to share with everyone. I also like looking at other peoples collections. When I was younger my only resource was going into a vacuum store or hardware store to look at the vacuums. Malls were not heard of. Ok so I was born in 1951, telling on myself.

This site means a lot to me and I read it several times a day. The only convention I have been to is the one in Canton Ohio at the Hoover Historical Society. Not the last one, but the one when Tom Gasko was President of the club. I don't travel much and am scarred of flying so that limits where I can go for the annual club event. I hope I can make it to Kirby as it is one of my favorite vacuums....

With that said, I read many times the Officers of this club asking for material for the next newsletter. I remember filling out a survey on paper or electronic. I think the electronic works great and enjoy receiving them. However I understand and appreciate the work of others to make a quarterly newsletter. Quite frankly I wonder sometimes how they get enough to fill a newsletter up.....

Moral of the story, this site has a wealth of information and I use the archives a lot to do research on vacuum cleaners I remember as a child. I would hate to see this website close. It is monitered and maintained very well and I appreciate all the work done by all the contributors that make this website and newsletter possible. I also have made some friends that I exchange emails with that I enjoy very much...

Thank You All,

Sincerely,

PR-21

I have been to the museum twice in 2013, I had a great time, and I am excited about the convention in June. Looking forward to visiting with Tom and meeting new friends.

Just a word of clarification..

I worded my first line incorrectly, I Should have said I would probably be banned from the club, If anyone took it to mean anything negative about Robert Seeger or Fred Stachnik, im very sorry, they have been nothing but friends to me for years, and they have done a great job with this website, my comments were solely directed at the VCCC, where people have been banned for expressing opinions.

Hi Kenkart.

Frankly I'm exhausted with all this. I got little sleep last night worrying about the clubs (V.C.C.C. and Vacuumland) we need to table all the hurt feelings, and get on with life.

Let's all agree to disagree, but I for one do not want another migraine tonight, so enough already!

To the club(s).

When I sign off as Robert Alexander Taber, it's because I'm mad, disgusted, fed up and so on. Here it all of them!

Lets all make nice, stay friends and move on to a pleasant topic like the convention.

Kirby, here we come.
