Hey guys... I haven't gotten a new vacuum in a while, so it's time. Anyway, someone is selling a Sentria for 60 dollars... no attachments and broken belt, but let me repeat, a SENTRIA FOR 60 DOLLARS!!!!!!!! I just can't resist.... I'm going to program the GPS now! I of course have to make sure it's in decent shape, but I paid 250 for my G5 several years ago, so I think 60 for a Sentria is a steal! I'll post a pic if it's in good enough shape to follow me home!

Well, I got it. It has a few scratched and is dull and the brushroll might be in need of replacing... and the outer bag is dirty (any tips on washing it w/o fading it? I know that's not such a big deal with newer ones as it is with older ones... I still got a good price. Wish me luck!

before pic

Before pic.... I want to rip in and clean it up now, but I have a friend who's going to help me on Tuesday and he knows how to do it right....

Congratulations! What an awesome bargain! When you replace the brushroll, be sure to get Kirby part # 152505. Not all "Sentria" brushrolls advertised out there a the newer brushroll. The new one has stiffer and more tightly tufted bristles that will do a better job of setting up agitation. You can definitely notice the difference. And I would just wash the bag in mild soap on the gentle cycle. Just take it off the mini-emptor and turn it inside out. If you break the bag strap, you can always get a new one. Once, I just left it on the mini-emptor and hand washed it in the bathtub. Either way, just be sure to line dry it.

Thanks Eurekastar. I think if I got attachments and shampooer for the Sentria that I *might* get rid of the G5. I like the G5, but I really only need one G Series. At least I have a spot for it with the demise of my poor Hoover 28 the other night! If that Oreck had fallen on a Kirby, it probably wouldn't have made a scratch! I cant' wait to get it restored... I LOVE the curved handle and contoured handle grip.... so much nicer than the plain jane straight handles on the other G Series. Seems powerful too.... and guess what? I did the same thing with my bag... I didn't want to fool with taking the emptor off, plus the bag fill tube was dirty, so I hand washed in the bathtub. I let it drip dry for a while, then put the blow drier on it for a bit, and now it's on the floor with a fan pointed at it. There are a couple stains that wouldn't come off, but the previous owners and used it with the bag not attached to the chute and dirt was all inside the cloth bag. I thought that was silly of them, vacuumed it out with my Dyson and then proceeded to install the new paper bag that came with it. Vacuumed my whole apartment and then realized that I didn't put the bag on right and dirt was again just blowing into the cloth bag. That shouldn't happen to me... I know vacuums! Had to get the Dyson back out and start all over! I found a dime and a penny in the bag cloth bag (threw them out with the dirt!) when I got it home.... Who runs over stuff like that in a fan first machine? The brushroll is fine by the way, was just covered in carpet fibers and girl hair (yuck).

I've seen some Sentrias that had the headlight flash once when the machine was turned off... mine doesn't do that. Was that a limited time feature, or is something wrong with mine? Thanks!
