Thanks!

Hibid, this one was only an hour away at an antique mall that shut down, and the contents were being auctioned off. Someone spray painted the handle and got overspray on the bottom of the bag, motor, and handle fork. If anyone knows how to get that off the bag, please let me know!

Yes, I do.

I want nearly all of my newer machines and a few oldies gone to put towards my first vehicle. I saw this for very cheap and not far away, and did not want such a rare machine going to the trash(seeing as I was the only bidder). I've been limiting my intake quite a lot, having only taken in 2 (very old) machines the last couple months, this included. If you want any of the vacs I have pictured in that post, tell me and we can work something out.

That is a really cool old machine, and, as mentioned, a steal of a price. I would have jumped on it, too, even giving my space limitations. I would make something go to make room for it.

You may want avoid a full-size pickup otherwise you may find yourself bringing home more stuff than you have room for. Happens to me a lot...

Seriously, best of luck in selling what you need to fund your new ride.

One of these days I will get that hand-held of yours finished...

Brando - Sweet!!

Texaskirbyguy - Thanks! Looking forward to the finished product of that hand vac!

Here are some better pics. I had to patch the bag right where the clip ends - It was missing a big chunk. Not my best work but it no longer blows hair chunks and mothball smell, lol. I did wash it out and it is totally dry now, looks a bit better. Note the twist on hose port, this was made before the quick disconnecting system. The switch tab is made of steel instead of pot metal, I wish they kept it that way. The same goes for the handle mechanism, head lock tab, and the fork in general. Also, the fork locks and the front wheels touch the ground when in hose mode, so it can be pulled behind the user. They really went backwards with innovation when they made the model 9.

What does the little screw on the right of the fan case do? Can be seen in pic 3.

That's not a model 9. It could be an 8 though or a 7. The little button is to hold the bag on. There was a spring that stretched from the attaching part of the bag to the button, kept the bag from flying off when the backpressure set in. Model 9's used a clasp to hold the bag to the spout.

Thanks! I think it is a model 8, as Jason Davis' model 7 has an older style tag. Having owned a model 9 as well, this one seems more advanced. They definitely cheaped out on the 9, going by the pot metal switch tab, as well as a 1 piece handle that doesn't lock upright and falls over in attachment mode.

My favorite vacuum site was shopgoodwill.com, until they permabanned me. I made a 2nd account to change my username/email but used the same paypal account and they just without any notification flat out banned me. I guess they thought it was a account hijack. Haven't bothered to eMail them yet to see if they would unban me. But anyway, Goodwill has some kind of freight brokerage with FedEx so the shipping rates are cheap. I got an entire Compact C-4 vacuum inside a Eureka ottoman case shipped to me for just $9! It must have been 50 lbs at least, I have no idea how they do it but don't ask don't tell. lol

Nice find for $1 ! The bag alone is worth 100 times that! I have two model 9's myself but they have totally different bags between them.

Local auctions

I will attest that HiBid is a heck of a source for regional (go drive to get it) auctions. I use them, as well as 3 other regional state auctioneers.

shopgoodwill.com...

I reply:
I've had a similar experience. They've stopped accepting my login credentials that worked just fine less than a monthago for no apparent reason at all. I'm wondering if they've had some sort of cyber attack that they're keeping quiet about. Oh well, it keeps me from spending money that I shouldn't be spending.
