This would be my take on it. Both the 1230 and the 32 appear to be versions of the model XII. The 1230 is made in England so I would suspect the designation just means it was a model 12 made for an foreign market. The 32 was made in the USA but is not a model that was sold there so it, again was a special version for export. The hose connection (non threaded) on the 32 is for the US style hose and was only used on the last of the machines they made so I would put its date at being late 1930's. (Incidentally they wouldn't have come with connectors on both ends of the machine. The bakalite connector unscrews and was made to be threaded into either end as necessary)
