Okay, so first of all, apologies for the cheesy thread title!

After cleaning the bin and cyclone out thoroughly, I have now been using the DC40 for a good few days and it is safe to say that I don't think there is a problem with the cyclones, like mentioned in an earlier thread.

The dust gets inside the filter compartment due to the bottom bin seal being covered in dust due to emptying. As you can see, the filter compartment is still clean and the bin has not been emptied yet, granted it is not full but there is a lot of fine dust collected in the bin from general cleaning and dusting my home.

None of the dust picked up is in the filter compartment, so, I can put this to bed now and I know it is because of the dust bin seal that the problem I suggested accrued.

Here is the Dyson and the inside of the filter compartment after a few days use picking up general dirt and dust, the bin is a bit dull now but that happens, should I buy it a new one? what do you think?

Haha glad to see you are friends again :-)

I'd leave it a bit before buying a new bin. There's a plastic polish that's supposed to be very good I've forgotten the name now. I'll see if I can find it.

I think so yeah it was on a dyson forum but I think there's another one for cleaning plastic and light scratches.

wd40 does it but leave but it won't stay nice for long.and if you ask dyson they will probably send you a new bin

Meguiars PlastX Cleaner & Polish 296ml G12310 Headlight Lamp Light Plastic

I've heard this works well.

Not sure I'd want to use WD40 on it but that Meguiars plastic polish is supposed to work well. I will try it soon.

If you aint gonna get one yet but in the future, say that the seals are leaking or something and the bin is scratched to hell that you cant see through it. They wont send a new seal, just the whole thing:)
