Mine say they are made in the US. I have a couple in my garage right now. They are externally identical to the Guardian two stage motor. Lighthouse Motors sells them for $115 on their website.
Electromotor does sell some Chinese made single stage motors but this one is a traditional two stage motor and at least the ones I have say made in US.
I talked to the Lighthouse Motor guy, Brent, I think it was. Really nice guy....yes, he has a whole line of American-made motors selling for just over $100, depending on application. He doesn't know what fits what, so you search for tags and motor specs....along with careful measurements. He has motors that would much outperform even the original Electrolux tanks. But, there's a noise caveat in all that. Electrolux metal tanks, with the exception of the Diamond Jubilee, were known for their quiet motors. If that's not important to you, then Lighthouse is the way to go.I meandered out to the garage to find the new one I have sitting out there. The tag on that motor doesn't say where it is made. The seller appears to have removed the original data sticker and replaced it with one of their own. I emailed a contact I have at Electromotor asking where 6500-298 is made. Stay tuned.
What we decided is that I would try a few of his motors in Electrolux tanks and see if the tradeoff in power was worth the extra noise. I might even get a decibel meter for the adventure......
