I got another Kirby Classic Omega!

I was helping a friend from church clean out his garage today when I found a very sad looking kirby Classic omega buried under a pile of stuff. he said I could have it if I wanted it, if not it was going in the garbage. of course I put it in the trunk of my car! It definitely needs to be rebuilt. the front motor bearing is worn out and very noisy, and one of the brush bearings is toast. the cord is taped in several spots and the bag was packed with smelly rotten dog and cat hair. the bag is like new after I cleaned it out and washed it twice. I would like to rebuild it myself, but I dont know how. can anybody give me some direction on how to do this? and about how much it will cost? THANK YOU!!!

I can help you a little. Also, Bill (a007Kirbyman) can help you a bunch. He owns a Kirby service center and will sell you the parts you need at a discount. The Classic Omega is a good machine to learn on. Congratulations on the find! Free stuff is always good I think!

Hey Dustin,

If you were nervous about using any 'tools' other than a spoon, fork & knife; then I'd of told you to hesitate on doing this. ~~lol~~

However, after talking with you Dustin, I feel confident you'd do just fine doing this yourself; & save yourself a chunk of money on the work itself. You've already worked on others & even had this apart.

Kirby Classic Omega

Oh one can never have enough Kirby Omegas!! I Have four. However two of them I think I am going to part out. I have my original Omega I bought brand new in 1975(it was my first brand new Kirby) It still looks and performs as good as the day it was new.The second kirby I bought from a collector on Ebay...... There isn't nothing like a Kirby......
