I got a Heritage II Turbo!

So yesterday I went to my local goodwill shop and went straight to the housewares and spotted this beauty! A Kirby Heritage II Turbo! I think this is one the first Heritage IIs with the Classic style nozzle that was used on the Classic 1CR, Classic Omega, Classic III, Tradition, and Heritage 1HD. Looked at the serial number and the year was made is 1984 but I didn’t get a chance to see the month. It’s in really great shape and all it needs is a new lightbulb, brushroll with belt, and base plate. Plus a good polishing. Right now it’s in storage with my other vacuums so y’all will see all my vacuums again when we move to a new house very soon! I did wanted a Heritage II Legend model but no biggie.

Hey on your heritage since you have 13 inch nozzle does name plate say heritage 13.


Nice tradition.  I'm adding pics of my classic tradition and my royal backpack vacuum.  


The classic I have every attachment it came with.  I was doing a tune up every thing was done except on bearing plate above bearing are 2 washers..  with our the washers in it's too tight to spin fan.  It's no wonder why when I put amodel fan on vacuums it happens.


My tradition I did a tune up and took out stock bag system used sentria 2 type f fill tube and adapter.  I'm trying to make one for classic.  It has same bag on classic as sejuns latest acquisition.  The only issue is it has Omega sticker on handle and belt lifter.  


The royal back pack bag I believe my,6701 i may be off but Hoover has one exactly like it.


I'm tubing up before I polish.  Polishing is easiier on 1cr to l2.  The reason is not as many curves.  


 


Ben you have to let us know how shake out on tradition ait flow is.  Very nice tradition.   The pics of my tradition you can't see serial number in pics.

As I said before, I bought the Heritage II 13" nozzle separate; I owned that three years before I got the 1987 Heritage II.

The decals on your Classic 1CR were what Kirby used whenever that or the Classic Omega 1CB (what the decals were intended for) came in for service.

Your Tradition appears to be one of the last ones built going by the serial number on it (starts with the letter "H"), which puts it around spring/summer 1981. The ribbed foot switch button (as opposed to smooth for 1979 and 1980) is another clue.

Regarding the air flow for the Tradition, I've read it is better with the shake out bag than with the original Style 1 disposable bag system. That disposable bag system has a rather narrow fill tube design, which cuts suction and increases motor noise noticeably.

I remember you saying you got 13 inch nozzle on eBay.  I just don't recall you mentioning where heritage was from.  My tradition Ill try to get serial number.  Your tradition has to have way better airflow than 1.25 inch bag assembly.  My tradition has loads of power.  


InthI thought the classic had Omega when serviced.  The guy who gave it to me said his in laws got it worked on regularly.  I used the rug rennovator on it today on my 560(I took off safety switch and wired to plug). It did a good job.  I thought I could use it on tradition but of course no.  


The light on classic threw me off.  I thought all 16 inch took same light.  I knew classic didn't have a housing.  I didn't put in the top 2 washers in bearing plate and made fan sit to low.  2screws are stuck I'm going to have to use flex shaft and cut tops off screws and pull rest out with pliers.  I tried everything and those screws aren't going anywhere.  Once I get screws out put in washers and make sure bearings lock into bearing plate.  Put amodel fan see how she runs.  


One quick question.  Heritage has micro matic toe touch but kenK says it womwo fit tradition or classic.  Is the toe touch on other side or are wheels spaced out differently.  I don't have a heritage anymore so it's hard to envision it not fitting. That is all.  Have a great weekend.

The 13" nozzle was actually given to me from another member, Mark (marks_here), privately. My 1987 Heritage II came from Jared (huskysteel), which I got from him last year.

An impact driver will help you remove the more stubborn screws from the bearing plates for the 505-Classic; if really stubborn (broken heads), try to use an "E-Z Out" drill bit (using the appropriate size) to get rid of the remnants. As to the headlight cap differences between the Classic 1CR and Classic Omega/III, I had known that for years already (order part no. 1650 for models 505-Classic 1CR).

For your last question, I've seen some of the pre-Heritage II models fitted with the later-style front axle you mention (part nos. 131684, 131686 and 131688) without any outstanding issues. I think another one of our members could help you describe that? The Micro-Matic axle has a screw at the bottom to provide further adjustment downward for some areas if the standard low position isn't low enough.

Great news! Yesterday my new fan arrived and later that night I placed a new fan on the Heritage II and works great with no weird noise! The old fan was cracked with some hair caught on it. And the stupid gasket maker tube burst open while I was trying to place some on the front plate. Lol

Thank you KirbyClassicIII!! Soon when my family and I move to a new house I’m planning on putting new fans on my 3 Kirby Classic vacuums, G3, and 517. It should be very easy to remove since I put the screwdriver on the cooling fan and twist off the pulley with pliers.

September 1984 - so that makes yours one of the very first ones ever! Thus, the nozzle casting should also have the additional lug to support the Classic Omega/III/Tradition speed switch (134373).
