to pick one machine family to be my everyday vac! I have slimmed my collection right down to a few 110v Hoovers, 2 Kirbys, Hoover Platinum Canister and Linx, Lux1 and Sauber (Lux) Intelligence, Miele Upright and my Shark Family (Rocket, Rotator and Nav Pro).

I find myself mainly relying on the Shark(s) as they are easy to use, do a really good job and are compact. I have to vacuum pretty much daily because I have an inside Labrador that eats, sleeps and sheds. The Sauber was bought brand new for $1600 and although it is really good, quiet and excellent filtration... had the Shark Rotator been released in OZ at that time, I would have saved $1000 haha

Just curious about how you all choose what becomes the 'one' or 'the family' that handles your daily work?

I don't actually own any bagless vacuums. I've had loads over the years, but never got on with them.

I don't use the vintage vacs as daily drivers either. I have 2 modern vacuums in the house (Sebo x1.1 and Miele C2 Cat & Dog) that I've found best suit my needs and I stick to them for daily vacuuming. Because they're modern and not particularly interesting or unusual, I'm not bothered about them getting "used and abused" like I am with the vintage and more unusual cleaners.

Well, except my Filter Queen, all my vacs are bagged. That said, it is in fact the Filter Queen that gets used most of the time, downstairs. Upstairs, it's usually a Simplicity 6970. The others get used when I want a change of pace.

I'd like to add a full-size Riccar/Simplicity canister, a Rainbow and a Dyson to the lineup at some point. The Dyson could be quite nice for things like ridiculous quantities of cat fuzz that fill up the other machines quickly, and there's nothing like a Rainbow for getting rid of that dusty smell. (Though, the FQ does really well, and none of my Tacony vacs have any stink issues - but I've used a Rainbow, and it really does remove dust smell like no other.)

.

When i get a new machine it'll be used fairly often for a little, Currently it's my Miele S7 Fresh Air. Before the Miele i was using a Hoover air, and before that a Filter Magic 2008 edition.

Whn i don't have anything new to me i just grab whatever i feel like using.
