Childhood Machines

Yes this one holds far too many memories.

I used to finsh junior school at 3.20 every friday afternoon when my Gran would pick me up and take me to spend the weekend at their place.

Saturday mornings were so special there. Always the same routine.

I would rise from bed at 8.30 or so and join my grandad in the lounge while he watched BBC1 news and we both waited for Nana to get dressed and make breakfast which was always some high fibre cereal - never any kid cereal thank god or if my luck was in a bacon sarnie LOL! (cooked on a New World Apex eye level 80s thing. the one with the Sola Grill)

The next hour I would wait in great anticipation knowing that it would soon be tidy time before we went out for the day.

It didnt matter where in the house I was but "Bring him the hoover Ron" was always audible..... prompt for my Grandad to place the Hoover Senior they had in the lounge and for him to plug it in. The one they had was the 652 with a dark brown hood and a dark brown handle cover.... dunno what model this is???

It was then tough decision for me to sacrifice watching Going Live! or hoover up.

The Hoover always won in the end.

Later years when they got the TM U5094 it was always a toss up between Live and Kicking or the hoover.

Whilst I was hoovering, Nana would put a wash on in her Philco Autowasher Electronic so it was double fun until we were ready to go out so that kept me entertained for a while especially if she called me over to help her turn it on.

Sunday afternoons when I got back home to my parents house were filled with the buzz of school uniforms being washed and my Mums end of weekend clean when the Turbomaster was brought out for me to help.

Just wish I could re visit 20 years ago it would be great!

A small error...

Hey Paul

In the 1st table the U1102 is the Junior(Elec board model) and the U2196 is the Autoflex version. The Junior has the DF lamp and the Autoflex dosent- EB versions were ass about face like that lol!!.

Also the beige/brown colour scheme was carried over into the next models U1222 and U2334 which were made in both colour schemes with the same model numbers!

Cheers

Seamus

How do Seamus.

Weird things were going on - I corrected the U5094 Autoflex error, just before Rob highlighted it and, also last night, i reversed the first series Electricity Board Autoflex and Junior.

I had always been suspicious of the Autoflex being amongst the Juniors and vice versa, but was led down the garden path by the official Leccy board pamphlet which i have attached.

Swines!! trying to confuse me like that.

Apologies...

..to anyone here who has a Dyson. But i hate them. With a pasion and will never ever ever under any cirumstances own one. My Mum wanted to get one my reaction was "if you buy a Dyson, i'm moving out!" lol. Anyway, if u like them, u like them. But I can't do with bagless full stop. I'm DYING for a Sebo x4 hehe

Chris,

No offence taken!

I USED to belive in Dysons working so effectively and have had 3 myself (parents DC01, My DC04 and my other DC07 All Floors) but that went out the window when I tested a TP and Dyson side by side. The Dyson left too much deep down dirt in the carpet - not my idea of clean.

I think they really are overrated and cost way too much for what they are and the poor job they do.

Anyways the Turbopower you see next t my TM is the U1222.

Il get a pic up for you soon.

Rob

:)

U1222???

Rob,

Are you sure that the Black TP softbag junior is the U1222? I thought that was the U1220?

I have a U1222 and this has the headlight, and is in the Carmargue grey, EB exclusive I beleive!

Correct me if I am wrong however! :D LOL

Happy hoovering all,

Clark.

Slip of the finger!

Hi Clark.

Yep you are right - the black one is the U1220 from the second generation series.

I too have the Leccy Board Special U1222 in the grey.

Attached is a pic of the U1220.
Enjoy.

Jealousy...

...is well and truly setting in! LOL look at the size of that TM compared to the Turbopower. One question; how the hell do you manage to use the Miele on full power? Mine clings to the carpet even on the 'everyday' setting and I can hardly push it on the max setting. I only ever need to use it on the thick rug in my living room. Anyway, that's a hell of a set you have there :)

Do You Remember the 'Turbomaster Total System' Telly

It featured a man and a woman, each halved straight down the middle and put together to create one person.

The voiceover blurb was something along the lines of: "If one half of you prefers an upright cleaner, and the other half would like a cylinder..."

The half-man, half-woman really disgusted my sister at the time! LOL

Turbopower and Washer from 1985

Took this pic earlier - these would of been on sale in the showrooms at the same time.

Hoover Electron 1100 De Luxe and TP U1220

Got the Electron going as we speak!

Turbomasters

Nice one there boys, looks like it was just out of the box, I do like the slate colour, now only if they had done one in Logic Fascia Black!!!

Good work on the lists Paul, a few more sleepless nights...and Rob just watch when using it on the carpet it sits on, (looks like a tight looped pile??) I`ve seen many a turbo agi grab those loops and before you can switch off its hello new carpet!!!

Fred,

As you may tell, I'm the hoover elite man. In your second posting, when you where talking about changing the two belts in the Innovation, those two vacuums in the background and on the right were hoover elites, right? Well, can you take some pictures of them, especially the blackish one, for I have never seen a black hoover elite 600.

Thanks!

P.S. Thank you for setting up my account.
