Hi from a new member
'Bought for me by one very special fella of mine'
That's me!!!!
It seems that my appliance interest has spread a little bit - now, as well as washers, dryers and dishwashers, I am buying vacuum cleaners too.
For those who dont know me I am known as Matchboxpaul on Discuss o Mat and, thanks to Rob (amongst others), I now find a major interest in vacs has rapidly developed.
Having acquired a number of Turbopowers together (many thanks to 'J' and 'M' in Cardiff, Wales), I thought it was about time that I signed up here too.
Rob had already claimed the Turbomaster name, so I went for Turbopower instead - we are after the set after all.
Anyways - the Turbomaster.
I noticed it on sale about an hours drive north from where I live and, in secret (although Rob knew of machines existence), I went and bought my first vacuum cleaner.
As Rob will confirm, I have discovered that I am very protective of the U5094 - woe betide any damage to it Rob!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is, as far as my limited knowledge is concerned, pretty much immaculate. The seller mentioned that she only ever used it upstairs to vac the bedrooms and was only geting rid, because it was becoming rather heavy to shove about.
She obviously used it sparingly as, I am told, the beater bar is pretty much unused and it has no dings on the plastic parts of the machine.
It was kept in the car for a week and handed over on the Friday just gone. Rob spent much of the weekend staring at it, unable to take it in - I am lead to believe that Turbomasters are quite rare and very difficult to find.
Anyways, gotta get the others now, which leads me to (UK members of Discuss o Mat will know what is coming next)a little project I have just begun.
I am trying to fathom out the Turbopower and Turbomaster series of machines and have had a bit of success re the model number thing.
I just want to get the Turbomasters straight in my head.
My understanding is that the following machines comprise the entire Turbomaster series, which were available in the UK:
U4362 Softbag (no on board tools)
U5078 Basic Hardbag (no on board tools)
U5080 Hardbag Electronic (no on board tools)
U5094 Hardbag Total System (non-electronic, but with on board tools)
U5096 Hardbag Electronic Total System (top of the line)
U5120 Hardbag Total System for the Electricity Board
&
U5132 Turbomaster Fredom (Permabag)
The above is the series that I have been able to identify apart from one!
On Hooverspares they list one additional model number and, last night i discovered what this machine looks like! Also, by weird coincidence its the very machine which Fred has posted pictures of above - the U5045 Innovation (thanks Fred for sanctioning my membership).
Made in the UK and exported to the United States is my understanding, but why therefore is this machine listed on the Hooverspares. Were some U5045's also sold in the UK?
There you go - the questions have begun in my first post. But hey - thats me - eager to learn.
I'd better curtail this essay, before it starts killing people through boredom.
Remember Rob - any dings and there will be trouble! You can't say I haven't warned you.
All the best to all on the site.
Paul
