Guys, really am intrigued with this machine, have seen videos of its use and shopped online. Any pros or cons?Long hair cat, hard wood floors, low and medium pile area rugs in every room, back not getting any stronger.
I feel a Felix calling me

Well I can tell you that the Felix is not a lightweight upright - has about the same weight as the SEBO X series.
For the cleaning needs you've listed, the Felix is great. I've since swapped my T shaped upholstery
tool on the front of the Felix with a stair cleaning/small turbo brush when cleaning up after pets though the lack of a long hose on this model is left wanting if you want to clean further areas. Though an extension hose is available, like most vacs it can't store on the machine. Much as many probably love the "upright to hand held" design, I don't - I find the hand held unit is too long and bulky to be more effective than a standard sledge type cylinder vac.

I think the weight is about that of my dc18, which by design seems to fit my needs, just lacking in the air flow to pick up the cat litter at the edge of the rug, grooming a bit lacking also. I defalut to that model here due to size of rooms and getting around here, cannister is a bit tough in my home.

The built in hose that locks down the side on the external side grab handle is a short one -measures 3 metres when fully stretched but then you have to keep one hand on the handle and the other on the hose to prevent the vacuum from falling over. However I note online that the Dyson DC18 weighs 7.1kg compared to the Felix at 6.8kg so it is a bit lighter.
TBH though I used to take issue with such a short hose, until I discovered that its of actual use when vacuuming out my fridge and able to vacuum worktops as the hose is located at the top of machine. Unlike so many owners, especially from those who have tried this vac in the U.S, I don't use the highest setting of the power as even medium power from its variable suction slider seems able enough without applying full suction power all the time. Because of the need of setting high suction power all the time, the main downside to the Felix is that the main exhaust blows hot air all the time - but only if the owner constantly uses the higher power, which the Felix doesn't really require all the time. The hot air from the exhaust flows upwards towards the owner which is probably one of the main reasons owners dont like about the Felix.
It has a 3.5 litre dust bag capacity which is far bigger than Dyson's small 1.7 litre capacity. I quite like the DC18 by Dyson though - what I don't like is having to use the hose section through the handle - the separate "more old fashioned" idea of having a separate handle and a hose makes cleaning far quicker and less of a stress in use.

I do like the dyson's quick grab hose, which I have to use a lot, it is just not possible at all for it to clean the edge of the area rugs here with it, I guess not enough air flow.The hose on the Felix is a bit of a down reach, something I have a lot of trouble with, bending, so unsure about that.The model I was looking at did come with the extra hose and the turbo tool,a nice option as cat hair gets everywhere with fans in every room.He is 12 so I may not be fighting cat hair and litter forever I guess, but it drives me nuts.I love my Sliverado cannister, but it wears me out anymore and in my space its easy to trip over it. The miele with short hose and cord that catches my foot every time in the little curls, is just danerous anymore.So Felix looks like a very good solution to a good and versatile daily driver to me?? Big investment again.They do have a used Fun model, not fond of the color, but in like new condition and $420, not $600, it has been looked at a lot by me, no hose or turbo though.

It is possible to release the hose by gently grabbing it from the top but I've done that in the past and eventually it tore - the release hose is not all the way to the bottom of the vacuum, but as you say lower down. It does switch off the brush roll on the domestic market Felix models though which is a bit of a good safety aspect.
Generally if all you require is an upright that has a power nozzle with a brush roll on/off button that can swivel, the Felix is far more nimble than a Miele S7 and the Felix is my model of choice for getting around the home removing the last vestiges of cat hair, though as a cat owner I'm realising that I will be forever finding cat hair.
The two vacuums are very different though - SEBO market the Felix as a medium sized home vacuum due to its 3.5 litre dust bag capacity compared to the bigger bag on the X series and add a long crevice tool to act as a mini extension "straight" tube for quick cleaning.
Have you not considered the X series before, though? Many members try the cheaper route of second hand Windsor Sensor models first, similar to UK buyers who go for the lower power X1 Automatic before considering the more modern X4 ?

Nothing I can think of Roger, thanks! Look forward to seeing it.Ryan we had a Windsor at a store of a friends, I used many times, just did not send me, never broke in all those years though, easy to take apart and clean the normal items.My place here is not large, prob 700sq ft

Well, they were selling at Wal Mart and Costco not so long ago - perhaps they will be available there. Even if you could try the commercial version from Windsor would be a start.
