Good for you, Matt!
You have yourself an early 2nd generation R1 complete ensemble with the early version 'squarehead' tools and the flip-over floor/rug nozzle. The crevice tool is the second ribbed version GE substituted at the factory as they moved to the new look GE vacuum tools.
Although is is well nigh impossible to repair the splits in the vinyl jacket hose, under the carefully removed electrical tape repairs the split may not be as bad as indicated. Clean up the tape adhesive with Ronson Lighter Fluid - beats those citrus cleaners every time.
Wash the hose in a bathtub of soapy water using a potato brush to get the schmutz out of the coils. Dry thoroughly by running warm exhaust through it for 30 minites.
There is a fussy method where one can screw in short pieces of smaller diameter hose to bridge those gaps invisibly (I have done this on several extremely precious original vinyl hoses to return them to full suction and strength) or you can trim off the 6" endsat the split and shorten the hose. Although, if you are going to re-sell it I would not shorten the hose too hastily. Leave that for the next collector.
The hose is rubber cemented in place and after all these years probably brittle and fairly easy to remove with patience.
Lubricate and ease the rubber rings over the bump and down the end pieces. Work a long thin blade knife (grapefruit blade works nicely) or probe under the hose, work it around the perimeter to break the bond and twist off.A thin diameter bit of welding rod slipped inside and rolled around the circumference often does the trick.
if this does not readily break the bond get some rubber cement solvent, inject it and let it do it's softening work for you. It's messy but has a high factor of success when all else seems futile.
Of course, I would try to save the entire hose length and re-seal it as mentioned above but if you must, shorten it and remove the extra ends whatever way you want without crushing the metal ends.
