I bought a Sanitaire SC886

This is what I bought off ebay that will replace the Hoover Convertible. It is a Sanitaire SC886. Is this a Type A? It says it's Type E, but this looks like a Type A to me. I just paid $250 for it.

I'm still wondering if it's really a Type A. I think it is.

Only a small percentage of SC886 type A's would have the SANITAIRE name in block letters, rather than the presence of the "yin-yang" logo. Good luck!

The type A model SC886s are the first ever, being made late 1983/early 1984, so therefore great score for you if it is!

More than likely, this machine is from the early 2000s. The listing was posted in 2006 and revised in 2009. It for sure will have the pancake style metal motor.
