Have you got the adapter to use dc41 tools on the V8? And do you know if the V8 connections are the same as the Light Ball/Ball Animal 2 - I’m sure they will be? I was going to order one so I could keep all my DC55 tools and extras I’ve bought.

The V8 and the Light Ball have the same fitting. They moved the red clip onto the tool instead of the hose.

If you haven't got an adapter Dyson might send you one free of charge if you're lucky. Especially considering all the Dysons you now own!

Thx, will give them a try. But they wouldn’t budge on pricing yesterday even for 2 purchases. No way would they match the Very 10% - which I thought was a little tight considering the are the manufacturer.

Hey Jon,

Congratulation on your two new Dyson vacuums! I wish I could have the Ball Animal 2 as well.. but I live in the USA and our Ball Animal 2, as you UK peeps know, is quite a bit different. I LOVE my Dyson V8 and if you saw my other two Dyson Threads I posted.. I had excellent care from them. I guess the UK and USA Dyson representatives can offer different things, as when I bought mine I got 25% off the price and since I bought the Ball Animal 2 and the Dyson Small Ball Multi Floor, the current online promotion was to pre-register your vacuums in return for three free attachment tools. So I got six free tools, 25% discount and now I get free shipping as a VIP. But I think the only way for me to buy a Dyson with payments, is to buy on QVC. So you got a great deal with the extra months. I can’t wait to see pictures of your vacuums and please tell us what you think and how you love them.

Hi Mark,

I wish our USA Ball Animal 2 had the same red clip tools, so far only my V8 has those tools. Unless I bought a Cinetic Canister (Cylinder) vacuum or the awesome new V10.. I don’t have any other vacuums in my collection with the new tools beyond the V8. I like that since I have all the tools made by Dyson, that they fit my new Animal and Small Ball.. but after using the V8, I prefer the new design and find it much easier to change the tools with one hand. But regardless.. it’s Dyson and they have treated me so well, I can’t help but love and recommend them.

Oh and I WANT the attachment bracket that stores the Tangle Free Turbine ON THE VACUUM.. jeeze I wish the USA vacuums had that type of clip attachment. I even asked the Dyson rep if the Turbine storage clip would fit my Ball Animal 2.. sadly she said it does not fit. Oh well... I am happy for you guys in the UK.

Thanks Everybody,

Patrick

While the V8/V10 & LightBall/Ball2 take the same style quick release tools the sizing fitment is very different with the diameter of the cordless tools being a lot smaller. Therefore the tools from the cordless machines do not fit the mains powered ones.

I want that US Ball 2 so badly. It has 250 air watts and the EU Ball 2 90 air watts. That is so unfair. Also the US version has that aggressive brushroll with extremely good agitation. We don't have that either.
Only thing what I would add to the US Ball 2 is the large debris channels and suction selector from the EU model.

Hi Patrick

I was wondering if the US Ball 2 was the same as the UK DC41 Mk2 or the DC55 which I have. But looking at the brush roll it seems a little different. BTW I love the colour accent on the front of the brush roll! Your machines look in perfect condition - do you use them? If you do, how are the bins so clear? I have seen on some YouTube videos mentions of hairspray in the bin when new?

I’m wondering what type of fluffy head I will get with the V8 when it arrives. It seems that there’s a version with two rollers (like yours) and a different one with no roller at the back? I wonder why it was changed and what’s the difference?

Hi Matt

That’s a shame, I assumed the tools would be interchangeable like my V6/DC55. I guess that means there’s 2 adapters to buy. There’s a few extra tools I had with the DC55 that I’d like to keep.

BTW I just found out as a new member I can only post every 30 minutes - that’s frustrating! 🙄 Does anyone know how long that restriction lasts?

I got the opportunity to play with one at Best Buy yesterday. Apparently, the Best Buy employees get kind of pissed off if you try the demo displays. Anyway, this Dyson certainly looked neat. It did not have as much suction as I was expecting. Airflow is next to none. It picked up larger particles that the nozzle was run over. I dumped a little dirt on the test rug they had and was less than impressed with the results. The opening to the bin and cyclone assembly was really small, reducing airflow and creating a blockage point. Battery is non removable as well. I wonder how long it will take for these to show up in my local vacuum shop

Hey guys, got home uber excited this evening to my 2 new Dysons.

There’s loads of reviews about the V8 so I won’t tell you about that. But the Ball Animal 2 is just gorgeous, seems so much quieter than the DC55 I’ve got. The new hose set up is great too! The machine seems much more nimble than the DC55/41 - although it’s turning circle is tighter, it doesn’t seem to nip round the corners the same way. As Matt has already said the colour scheme is beautiful too! I haven’t been this excited about a new machine since the Sebo Felix about 7 or 8 years ago. I don’t mean I haven’t enjoyed lots of lovely machines over the years but this is just beautiful - can I say that after being such a Miele/Sebo and bagged fan for years?!?

I thought I was going to be super excited about the floor nozzle, but I’m just meh... about it. Maybe it’s because I’m so used to Miele turbo nozzles screaming it just seems a little quiet to me. Also it just seems a bit small. I’m not sure if I will be keeping the mini turbo tool on the side as I think it spoils the look - although I used to feel that about the Sebo X4 but I got used to it.

Dyson also arranged to send me out the adapters for the V8 and the Ball 2 - so I can keep all my old tools too. Although I’ve not got quite the collection the Patrick has 😀

Anyway if you got any questions I’ll be happy to answer -obviously as a newbie and not trying to steal anyone’s thunder as there are others far more knowledgable than I that have the machine first 😜 Matt 😜

Can u tell I’m a little giddy 🙄

Haha really glad you're pleased with your new machines. The Ball Animal 2 has to be one of the nicest Dyson uprights imho. I agree about it being a little strange the tangle free turbine head being housed on the machine but you soon get used to it.

Hi Jon,

Congratulations and so happy you got your two new Dyson vacuums and get to use them now. Thank you for the kind comments and I appreciate your replies too. Those Dyson tools shown in the picture are only PART of my collection.. I have another large bin full of one of every attachment tool NIB, never used for my collection and my Black Dyson Tool Bag is full along with one small bin full of tools. 🙄😬 (Hello.. my name is Patrick and I am a Dyson-Aholic!) Oh and Jon.. I’m VERY happy that you are Giddy.. I am too with every vacuum I add to my now 250 vacuums collection. It is fun and don’t ever worry about being new or anything like that here on vacuumland. Almost everyone here has been very patient with me and welcomed me as a newbie not too long ago and I haven’t had anyone complain about my “giddy” posts.. I figure if they get tired of me they don’t have to read my threads... but I do try to make it interesting for as many people as I can.. but it’s lots of Fun here! As far as the 30 minutes.. I just gave up and paid the $12 bucks for the premium upgraded account so for a year I can post as often without time constraints. It’s well worth it too as you get to see which threads you have read already and the ones updated are marked and so are the brand new threads.. it’s very well planned out and I enjoy this website better after the upgrade.. and how inexpensive too.

So my Dyson Big Ball Animal 2 and my Small Ball Multi Floor (pictured in my previous post here) are in mint condition because I have only used them about two times. I was going to just use them, but then with Dyson stopping further development of corded uprights, I decided to keep these two as Collectibles ONLY for my own fun and collection.. it’s not like they will stop manufacturing the same current uprights. I also thought, maybe if we are lucky, USA consumers will get one more Upright that “Maybe” was designed and developed but NOT yet released for sale, before Sir James stopped development?? Maybe, but who knows for sure. SO glad Dyson sent you the Adaptor, I like using all the tools and my favorites, they don’t (to my knowledge) yet make them for the new Dyson that have this red quick tool release. The Reach Under Tool and the Flat Out Floor Tool. I’ve only seen them with the previous connectors, but I can only search for Cinetic Canister (Cylinder) tools to find out, so I may be wrong.

Hi Mike811,
I totally agree and wish the brushroll head of the US Animal 2 had the UK’s suction slide adjustment! It REALLY should have been fit with some kind of suction control as like you mentioned it has the Whopping 270 Air Watts (see pic from Dyson website) and it wants to dig down into plush carpet, making it almost impossible to push. But you are right.. you should SEE the fantastic rug agitation and this Dyson is the very best Dyson I have at picking up pet hair. Kermit can shed all he wants and it gobbles it all up, especially with the high Air Watts, the Tangle Free Turbine whisks every pet hair away with ease.

Thanks Matt for pointing out the Cordless V8 and V10 Tools don’t fit the New Red Connector Tools, sold with uprights and canisters. The diameter is different, and I’d forgotten until you mentioned it. Thanks.

Hi Mike.. “My mistake. I meant to say the V10 and V8 tools are the same :)
it’s NOT like you to make a mistake! 😜😂 but it’s ok, we will let it slide this time. hehe Joking my friend! Hugs! 🤗

Thanks guys and again.. Congratulations Jon! How many times have you emptied the bin so far???

Patrick

@somertons25

Hi Jon,

I forgot to answer you regarding the Fluffy head you receive with the newest V8 vacuum. If you receive the same parts for your UK V8 as they send to US customers, you’ve probably already got your answer as your vacuum was delivered, but I will explain my pictures. On my previous post on this thread, I accidentally posted the pics to my V6, but the heads of that and my Two year old V8 are very similar in appearance. My older, two year old V8 came with the Fluffy head that has the back fuzzy blue roller. The other brushroll from my two year old V8 had a purple flat base at the back of the brushroll.

Now with my newest V8 that Dyson just sent me the two heads are the newest, updated heads.. I’ve attached pics to show on the Fluffy head, there is No back roller and only small wheels now. On the other brushroll, there is now a Blue/Purple Squeegee instead of the simple flat design. I find both of the newest heads work best, so the redesign was a good thing. I think they both are more effective at cleaning and the newest Fluffy seems to go in a straight line easier than the double roller design. The Squeegee on the other head is very good at helping groom the carpet and if you use it on hard floors, it prevents things from flying out the back of the brushroller.

I’m sorry I didn’t catch that sooner Jon, but thanks for sharing and as you said too.. ask anything and if I can answer or help, I will gladly help.

Thanks guys!!

Patrick

Hi Mark..

I guess my Joke didn’t land.. I was making a “mistake” with your name to try to be humorous. Sorry it wasn’t funny. Oh well I do have an odd sense of humor.

Hugs Mark and I can’t believe you make mistakes all the time. 🤔
