I am dying for the new Rainbow!

I have so many Rainbow Vacuums. I have two SE units complete with everything, a 1980 D3C unit complete with power nozzle, wet hose, and hardwood floor attachment, a Rainbow Chrome Dome complete with original dolly, power nozzle, and hardwood floor attachment and poles. I also have a 2010 Hyla GST vacuum. I would literally trade and pay extra for one of the new Rainbow Vacuums. I am absolutely DYING to have one and I think I may start selling my units to at least have enough to buy a used one! If you have the newest Rainbow, please post some pics and tips for me! Thanks!

I don't have a working Rainbow at all...

I would so much love to find a clean, working D4 that won't break the bank. The only working water vac I have is my Hyla NST.

Here's me, and (at that time) brand new 75th Anniversary Edition Rainbow E2 "Illuminate". It's a fantastic machine. In fact, it's been running on Air Wash mode, in the bedroom, since October. 24/7. Humidifies and washes the air. I've not had a dry mouth or sore throat yet during this entire heating season. Only a brushless Switched Reluctance motor like Rainbow's can run 24/7 with no wear.

Rainbows are wonderful!

I never realized how great they were until I tried one. Someday, when I have an established career, I'll buy a new Rainbow to be used in tandem with my aging D4. For now, I am content with my D4, with an upgraded PN and hose from an SE, and the larger basin which I've come to appreciate. I just used it last night in my parent's bedroom. My Rainbow, along with my Filter Queen, are the only two machines I have that don't develop odors (We are a pet household, so most of my machines smell like dog.) I almost can't believe that I didn't turn to a Rainbow sooner.

LOVE LOVE LOVE water filtration vacuums but Rainbow is the best of all of them. I really do think Rainbow's separator is superior to the other one's...

I'm dying for a new black one too........but the 2 speed I have is great and I'm so glad I ended up buying a new brushless one with the foam insulation

@ Tom - When you use is 24/7 in air wash mode, how often do u change the water and how long does it take to evaporate? I've never done that with mine as of yet.

I absolutely love my Rainbow D4. I "upgraded" it to use a Wessel-Werk power nozzle, which made it go from a great vacuum to an excellent vacuum.

Mark, it usually depends on the area. If it's a dry environment water will need to be added daily, if the environment is damp then I assume twice a week, I use my rainbow constantly just like Tom and I love it!! As far as changing the water I would change it at least 2 times a week.

I have a heavily upgraded 2004 E2, I've replaced the fans with the deeper ones, the rotor and upper bearing bridge to the newest style for vibration sound noise issues, and I put the sound insulating foam in it as well. I know some worry that putting the foam in a unit that wasn't made with it will overheat the controller, but I know it fits in both types of machines the same with no real change in how the housing fits, other than removing the cooling air intake duct from the controller. I've used my machine heavily for around 4 years like this with no issues at all.

We have hard water here, so I use distilled water (88 cents a gallon at Wal-Mart). I OVERFILL the pan, by about 2 inches above the dome in the center. You can hear the 'blub blub blub' of the air going through the water. The water gets dirty with dust in the air, I change it completely once a week. I add water when I no longer hear that distinctive "blub blub blub" sound. The machine evaporates about a gallon per week.

I probably would do this but there's no much dust in my house since I'm constantly vacuuming and dusting with the vacuum. You can tell when sun shines through the windows in my house, that's why I've never bothered using that on low speed.

@ PoconoVacMan - that's interesting you upgraded your D4 with the Wessel Werk PN. I almost did that with my Rainbow brown E series PN, but I never did. I've heard really great things about that PN but awful things too......

I think the Rainbow PN's go in this order

1. New Black PN
2. Rectangular PN with before the performance edition
3. The E series brown PN (like I have) it really vibrates the hell out of the carpet and I've never had any problems with it, but I've read there's an issue with not enough airflow. But the quality of the PN itself (like anything Rainbow) is really good.

So it's probably a good thing you upgraded your PN with that one....

Mark, I used the hose from a D3 that had a pigtail at the hose handle and use it with the wands and PN from an Oreck DutchTech canister (a TOL Wessel Werk nozzle)

I can't believe someone is letting their black rainbow go for 300. They must really be desperate for money OR it's stolen.
