I just used a Hyla water based vacuum ( aka Rainbow copy) this weekend and this is my impression.
I'm not impressed.
The main unit came unhooked while carrying it up the stairs and spilt some dirty water....the hinge just released it seems as did the hose to the main unit..., I didn't figure out a way to shorten the wand, though it is extended which is very cool I think, the way that you can with other canisters....connect the wand to the powerhead which would have helped tremendously cleaning the stairs, there was a short in the power nozzle which I tried to show with photos...turning on and off intermittently at certain angles, and overall, didn't feel the same build quality was there compared to the Rainbow. It also didn't clean as effectively....I could see what WASN'T being picked up...taking several passes to eventually get....and its edge cleaning wasn't good at all. The 'separator' did not appear to be removable...if it was even actually a separator.
Granted, this could be a 'bad one' in regards to the short in the power nozzle....and it was my first time to use it ....and w/o instruction...though I went online to learn how ....just in case...it was much different than my Rainbows. But, it did pick up stuff.....yes the water was very dirty ( more a reflection of the owners of this house not vacuuming much ( they are elderly). Is it a better deal than a brand new Rainbow for the money? probably b/c they are stupidly high priced....so always buy used Rainbows!!!!!
Summary: Likes: extendable wand, ability to pick up spilt liquids, basin is big... the handle feels good and substantial.
Negatives: doesn't seem as durable, doesn't pick up as well, its more difficult to plug in the wire from the hose to the main unit b/c a 'door' has be held open to insert the plug,
just an opinion,
