How's this for a marketing ploy?

Much as I love the Oreck, I think this time Mr. Oreck may have gone a little overboard. Nothing new and improved about this one, just done up in the logo of one of five universities. What won't they do to sell vacuums? This may be a bigger flop than the time they offered the XL-2800 "RadioVac" with the radio built into the handle (although I wouldn't mind adding one of those to my collection).

Karl, I agree with you it's a silly idea, but this will most assuredly NOT be a marketing flop. I live 30 miles south of the University of Florida. These will sell by the truckload in Gainesville.

Have you guys seen the new Oreck ad with the dogs? If Oreck has to sell vacuums at Target and air ads on nation TV then something is wrong. But then the recession is quite bad!

Wow.....That is a bit extreme. Hmmmm, is the Oreck "Radiovac" anything rare? I wouldn't mind adding one to my collection either

Yes, now it is somewhat rare, because for one reason or another, the radio didn't work in half of them. They didn't sell well initially, and people often broke the headphones. I just saw one on eBay a couple of weeks ago, but with a replacement handle (sans radio) it's of no value to me.

If they made those with Pittsburgh Steelers trim I can gurantee thousands of them would sell in the Pittsburgh area, we buy anything Pittsburgh Sttelers related around here

Have you guys seen the new Oreck Pilot or the Pilot Plus??? It swivels just like the dyson Ball!~

I don't know that many college kids who are that into vacuums. Perhaps some enthusiastic college moms & dads?

Seems pretty gimmicky to me.

What would be kind of cool is customizable bags! Everything else these days is customizable...why not vacuums?
