Looking at buying a Hoover Elite II bagged for $30.

It has the hose and stuff on the side too.

I had one like 10 years ago.

Dont remember it. I was 5.

Are they any good? I am looking for one to use other than the Kirby all the time.

I can get a tristar CXL, but not sure if it will go over right now.

The Elites are good machine. They are a little noisy but once you get past that they are good, simple cleaners and some of my favorites

noisy?

I always liked their sound. They sound like a concept, which is one of my favorite vacuums.

We all have different tastes.

I love my kirby 518s sound with its clean metal fan the best!

My hoover 800 sounds like a $20 new bagless pos!

The Elite is an excellent carpet cleaner, but the later models (over 6amp) are too noisy. The tool suction is not as good as Kirby, but it will clean carpet as well if not better than Kirby.

I agree

The Elite is my favorite next to the Convertible. I got an APB out foe a good but cheap lol Elite or Elite II, I have had a few myself and they are excelent carpet cleaners. I eve had the BOL Elite 200 with the single brush-roll and it cleaned almost as well as the 2 row ones.
Just my 2cents lol

I like my Elite, even though I've only used it 3 times. mine is teh original Elite from 1988 that was made for K-Mart and I got in unused from the Hoover Vault last year.
We used to have an Elite 200 and it was very nice and actually lasted a long time, only problem was the cord is not long enough.
I would like to find another Elite, I prefer the ones with the slide top bag over the side zip or hard case models.

Yeah, the early Elites were good machines. I don't understand why they're not that easy to come by today. Did they not sell well? Have most of them already been discarded of? I know when I did find them thrown out, many had broken impellers. I just found a '03 Elite with a 12-amp motor thrown out in Brooklyn that looks like it was used once, clogged and thrown away. 12 amps is too much!

I had my eye on that same elite I cant remember if I bid on it tho.At the time it I think i daidnt want to spend more than 100.00 and starting bid IIRC was 99.99 and it sold for just over.

Actually Ken,
I was the only bidder on that Elite 5.2, manufactured in March 1988 and model number 1015, 15th off the line, first year for Elite also.
IU have a 1984 Convertible I got from the Vault too, model U-4399, serial 1022, 22nd off the line.
And my pride and joy of my vault cleaners in the 1982 J.C.Penney badged Concept Power Drive with cordwinder, serial number 1001, 1st one off the line.
If anyone knew how much I have tied up in just those 3 vault cleaners.

Heck Yeah!

Elite man here! Elites are excellent vacuums! I think you should go for it! Elites are by far my favorite vacuums. I recently obtained an early hoover bagless with the elite motor to join my mint elite preferred and actually really like it. it is not a bad vacuum

http://elites are by far

Its ok, we forgive you joe =), I did care for the design of the bagless, Hoover also had a bagged one with the same head and called it sofguard I belive. It seems much heaver than the elite. I much prefer the Elite and Elite II before they went to 12 amps and knocked off the design. Someday I might spring for a commercial elite before they to are NLA.

Sam, that would be why I didnt bid on the elite. I couldnt remember If I was outbid or if I didnt bid because there was already a bidder and I felt Id be outbid. I didnt want to drive the price up for someone when I was only going to bid about 5or 10 more bucks than you won it for.
Im glad you got it tho and it didnt go to someone to Give to Grandma cause it was light andend up god knows where.
Id love to see pic of the 3 If you have them or are they here somewhere? I had pics from the auction but my computer went for repair and the were gone lol(.
