I found this Compact vacuum. I am super excited because this thing is in brand new condition! Owner said his grandmother used it once and stuff it in a closet. I have a mid 90's tri-star so this is my first older/vintage vacuum. How would I figure out it's exact age? Thanks

"New C-5 Compact"

Hello!

You have a wonderful find there! I have one also in Mint Condition which came in its box from San Pedro, CA last year!
If your Decal says 24th Anniversary Model, it is a 1960-62 model. If yours has a small plug on the back near the switch plate it would be from 1962 which accomadated the "Always Beauty Clean Power Brush". That is the model I have.
This model had a more powerful 7amp motor also. Do you have the box for yours?
This has the "metal" Compact nameplate. This was a Beautifully made Vacuum!
Did you get it from an Estate Sale? Please post more pictures of it if you can.
We would all love to see more! ...make sure your motor filter is in good shape as the foam filters dry out after so many years and use "Envirocare Micro Filtration bags in it if you plan on using it. The bags make all the difference in the World!

CONGRATULATIONS AND HAPPY VACUUMING!

Tania

Thanks!!!

Thank you so much for the information!!! I feel so lucky to have found this machine. I did replace the motor filter with a new tri-star one. I also replaced the fabric bag and paper bag with new ones from Tristar. I hope that's adequate?!?! It doesn't not say any number on the "anniversary" sticker. But it does seem to have the plug in the back. Thanks again

Owner found more

this is confusing...the owner texted me and said he found the upholstery cleaner and head massager attachment in box for the vacuum.....ummm, a vacuum powered head massager???? is this for real or is he confused?

Hi applecore5:

It's not what you think, get your filthy mind out of the gutter!

I think it's a scalp massager, looks like a dusting brush but with soft plasitc teeth to invigerate the scalp. Kirby had one and called the 'massage cup,' Filter Queen also had one.

Other uses for this thing is to put it on the long wand and unscrew a light bulb, or turn it in-side-out, plastic points down on the onside, to unclog a drain. In this case the vacuum needs to be in blower mode. Slip the massager thingy on the hose, and force the clog down the drain. Problem is, the damned thing didn't work for that!

Like several other 'gadgets' designed as a selling feature, it was little more than a gimmick! An old fashioned hair brush, or a comb works just as good.

If I find a picture of one on my attachment wall, I'll post it for you.

Hi applecore5:

Nice to see that you got the spray gun, sudsing attachment, and so on. The round thing with the teeth is the massage cup.

Now I have a question. Did you get the instruction book? If not, we'll have to help you find one.

Have fun with that great machine.

No not yet but when I bought it he said he will get me anything he finds that belongs to the vacuum. He said he remembers another attachment, whatever that might be. I'm hoping he finds the box and manual!!
