How would I go about removing the end caps of the brushroll on my Hoover Convertible? The bearings are starting to rumble, and I'd like to see if I can make it run smoother. I'd like to avoid installing a CWP replacement roller. Does the original Hoover brushroll use sleeve bearings or ball bearings, and is it easily serviceable? Thanks so much!

The easy way is to pull off the either plastic or metal disk on the one end of the bearing and pull out any thread or hair and then soak them in a good solvent like lighter fluid or gasoline to dissolve all the old grease. Then just repack the bearing before pushing the disk cover back on.
