Being fairly certain I'm not the only one who's been watching this Ebay seller try to flog this very flawed Constellation 82 at least 5 times now, my jaw plunged below my kneecaps at this latest 'prettification'. Each time she has received corrected information on this particular 82 and it's mismatched accessories. Each time it gets listed the price goes up!

This time she was so anxious to show off her restoration technique she even shows us the oversprayed tablecloth...

"Description
I have here a mid-century Hoover Constellation # 82. It was the first model they made like this. It is not the float on air type. That came later. I have all the attachments plus 2 bags to get you started. The attachments are the original type. The rug tool is a later model. As you can see the hose and the tools have been spray painted with Rustoleum. They came out very nice and the hose is very durable. This seems to be a good way to bring back the 1950's color scheme. The vacuum works quite well with plenty of suction. There is a new switch and a new cord. This vacuum is ready to go! I take PayPal only. No returns or international shipping. Good Luck!"

Atr least the Connie itself escaped the enthusiastic overspray...maybe next time not so lucky?

Dumbfounded Dave - if I'd known it was this easy to bring back a 50's colour scheme I'da spray-bombed a hose and a few GE Swiveltop tools for the Roll-Easys....

that blue looks like it would be better suited to a Royal upright than the Constellation

i have noticed on ebay, if something does not sell after a few listings, it gets a buy it now at an exorbitant price, as if trying to create excitement over the item, or make it seem rare to the potential sucker, i mean buyer.

And she's bragging about it!!

Poor thing. NO HOOVER deserves to be treated like that. She oughta be slapped. Good coverage, Dave!

yes, xray, for a terrible moment i thought i was looking at Royal hose and tools, then it got worse...

that blue looks like it would be better suited to a Royal up

That's what I thought when I saw the first pic. I didn't know that royal blue was a 50's color. If she was going to paint the hose and attachments, she should have painted them navy blue or gray.

Yeah, I've seen this eBayer selling Constellations before. It would almost seem as if he has a factory in his basement, churning them out ;-)

Seller is a Lady and yes, she seems to have a lot of vacuums to flog. This will be the 6th time she's listed this 82, her prices always start out astronomically hopefully high and she drops it only $5-10 each time. Just doesn't 'get it' that her goods are less than A+ with missing parts and then compounds her own deluded aspirations by spray painting mis-matched accessories. As 'pretty' as it is in static display, I have to wonder how long the Tremclad paint is gonna last on that hose...bet she didn't think to wash it down first. :-)

Ah well, maybe someone blissfully uninformed will buy-it-now someday but it won't be a collector from around here.

Dave, posting this from a Mac Cube - and loving it!
