Here is an interesting CU article.

It is noticable that Kirby now allows people over 67 years of age to return their machines after 1 year, everyone else is 3 days.

I think this is brought about because there was a case where some sales people were teaming up on a lady with Alzheimer's and sold her something like 12 Kirbys. They would sell her for cash then go back a week later and make another sale. The courts forced Kirby and their distributor to return the money to the family for the woman's care.

Thanks for posting this.

I have something very similar to this, it's a newspaper article from 1999 for 2000. It's only about Kirby distributors and their "problems" with customers. I should scan it sometime!

Not all DTD salesmen are that way

I know that most vacuum cleaner salesmen are worse then used car salesmen but there are some of us who have better morals then guinea pigs. I always go by the golden rule and I NEVER pressure anyone into buying anything they don't want. Also, I never sell anything that I wouldn't use in my own home.

I agree. Not all kirby sales people are like the articles. I have actually went out on a few demos with a Kirby dealer. Some people just want you to come in and do the free shampoo and leave. Others are interested in the product. I truly believe in the Kirby product and update quite often. I don't have demo's anymore. I just go to the nearest Kirby dealer and tell them that I have several Kirby's and am interested in the new model. I am able to agree on a price upfront. The only stipulation is that they have to bring it to your home and have you sign the contracts. My stipulation is it has to be brand new in a box and if it is not, I will not buy it. I use this same procedure for Rainbow vacuums. I actually got my Sentria model before the distributor was out of stock with the diamond edition. By the way, does anyone know when the next model of the Kirby will be out? Any info on color or changes?

Thanks
Bud
