How to finish an older Hoover

I posted on another thread that I have 2 575s...on one of mine I just used a
"scrubbie" and lightly cleaned it as I read that these did not have a shiny
finish when they were new.
The one I just bought I will clean up...what should I do to the finish ?
Scrubbie again ?
I will change the bumper with a black one.

Wipe and leave that finish alone. It appears perfectly in the photo.
Don’t change the bumper. Grab a nice foam brush and some acrylic black paint. Both available at Hobby Lobby in a small tube. It is in great shape, and it is plain with the correct width to the original.

Good advice...I will color the bumper instead of replacing. On my other
machine the bumper was gone...I bought a rubber mat at home depot and cut a new one.
It's a little thick but looks OK.
