The official Kirby site only provides date info for the non-vacuum products, it seems, and I wanted to find the manufacturing date of the D80-AM for, and I accept all cringe accusations, ceremonial reasons, as well as for proper 'aging' or statements. If it helps at all I can provide his serial number from the bottom plate; "A315367".

Any other info I need to give, as long as it doesn't involve the armature (can't access it) or extreme disassembly, I can give when requested.

With the armature situation, the entire fan assembly internal-bit is inaccessible to me, as well as anything "in front" of the motor, the screws WILL NOT come out no matter how hard I try.

AKA any identifying details or other junk is off-limits, says the D80, as well as my POOR POOR drill that's done nothing but disassemble and reassemble a vacuum cleaner repeatedly for a month straight.

Take off the rug nozzle. I'm curious to see if that metal post is in between the safety switch buttons. Here's some info courtesy of ChicagoMike:

Dual Sanitronic '80' (September 1967 - Late 1969)
A= September 1967 - May 1968
No letter used in serial number after May 1968

Again, I think this is a D50 with the rear housing from a D80 but the only way to prove this correct/incorrect is to access the armature which is giving you trouble.

There's many threads on here about removing those screws. If you haven't drilled them out, don't. You'll cause more trouble. Try coming from the side with a good pair of vise grips. This method has saved me in the past many times.

Going by the cleaner's serial number, it would have been made late in 1967 or early in 1968.

However, you can find actual date codes inside if you check both the field (13311) and armature (13312). But, these may get changed when the cleaner is rebuilt, depending on the condition.
