How to disassemble a Concept One ?

Remember that dirty old Concept One I got a few weeks ago..well I've shined it all up but still have to take the body off to fix the cord reel brake.. Has anyone done this before and can tell me the order etc... Thanks

Here it is all cleaned up..should have got a closer upper and hid the dogs dirty dishes LOL Considering how dirty and scuffed up this thing was it came out brilliantly. I used Mr.Clean Magic Erasers for on the blue housing and trim and it worked great..then waxed it with some Nu Finish car wax.

A big YAY for Magic Erasers in my book, they really are wonderful. Now they've come out with various types, heavy-duty, mag & wheel, etc.. I used a mag & wheel one but honestly I couldn't tell the difference between it and the regular or heavy duty which also are both no difference that I could tell. The nice thing with them is you really don't have to rub very hard either and they clean out the scratches and embedded scuffs easily.

Jeff I'll email you shortly...btw I gave it a test run last night and it seems that the pile adjustment is out of whack as well. When you pull back on the handle the brush end seems to drop right down and drag. Hopefully nothing.. I haven't taken one apart before.

Your concept 1 looks great,I have that same model in green,its the same model that my grandmother got in 79 or 80,I wanted the blue one,but all they had in stock was green,recently I found a really nice non powerdrive blue one,but the motor was shot,so I found a really beat powerdrive model with a good motor to put in the nice blue one,here it is all apart,I want to grease the back bearing while it is apart,will regular wheel bearing grease work ?, That cord real is easy to get to,just take your bag assembly off,then take the screws off the back cover,except the middle one for the cord real,remove the cover and you should be able to correct the problem. I got the cord brake fixed last night thanks Jeff...It was missing the little rubber pad (brake shoe) that rubs against the cord wheel to hold it in place. I cut a little rectangle of that rubbery foam from our anti-fatigue floor mat in the garage, crazy glued it on and it works like a charm. I'm off to buy new belts, a headlight and hopefully some new brush strips.

A question for Concept experts

I have the same model as Pete here, who by the way did a very good job cleaning his up, but on my the headlights quit working. They used to light up when I first got the machine, but after the bulbs went out I have not been able to get any new bulbs to work in the machine, what do I need to do to fix this?

You must rewire the entire machine. All wires replaced. Only then is it possible that the lights MAY come on.
