Hey all !

This is for sale not far from my place, the ad says it is a Hoover model #825, built in the 30's.

Are these correct informations ? How rare could it be ?

Hey

I'm guessing there not common but not rare. I'm guessing Hoover sold the most amount of vacuums in this era. I remember reading they sold over a million in a year. The good thing is people bought the vacuum. If you had some odd ball vacuum with s company who made vacuum 2 years they would be rare but undesirable.
It's s nice vacuum but they are out there.

Hey

No problem. I think until early 70s almost every brand had a cannister vacuum for hose and attachments and upright vacuum for floors. They also had hand vacuums for stairs or cars. Hoover eureka had a upright I believe a convertable kind of where the height adjustment you could attach a hose. The only older vacuums that had upright and hose was Kirby and royal.

every hoover upright always had attachments. this 825 included. the were a direct connect to the bottom of the fan chamber and worked much better than convertible tools ever could. 825's or any pre war hoover coffee can is rare. if its cheap, get it. it looks like it may even have its original bag (which is unheard of)

They aren't as common as they used to be, especially in the USA with shipping charges for oversize boxes going up. People just don't bother to list them as they won't sell with a $60-$80 shipping cost. I paid about $85 for my model 700 as a barn find w/ shipping in 2017. Not sure how rare they would be in Canada.

This is not my photo, and I am not sure how they connect, but here is what an attachment set for a Hoover 725 looks like

thank you for these informations !

The price asked in the ad is 75$ Canadian money, I guess it is reasonable if he has some attachments.

I don't think I'd buy it as a keeper, but if another member living around here would be interested in, I could pass the ad. I'm in Waterloo, Qc.
