Hey -
I have a Cirrus Upright bagged HEPA (supposedly sealed) I really love the vacuum and I use it pretty much daily. It's been a year now and I've only used (3) of the bag of 6 hepa bags. I can let them fill up and there is NO trace of dust in the bag chamber. I don't think I've ever had a bagged vacuum that I can say that's the case until this one. But it makes me wonder, if there's no dust in the bag chamber, why would there be any dust in the HEPA filter, other than carbon dust? The HEPA filters aren't too expensive for this vacuum, but it still has good airflow coming out. The manual does not mention a word of how often to change the filter. I've looked 3 times and can't find it. In other words, if the bag is catching everything, why change the filter? Carbon dust does clog a filter too, right? Maybe that's why they need changing.

I think your hepa would be ok..since you use high quality bags. I use hepa/cloth bags in my Wintunnel and Simplicity and never have dust in those bag chambers and rarely change my secondary filters. Btw..we have the same living room tables! I have two end tables, coffee and sofa tables..love them still after all these years.

Hmm

My riccar rsl HEPA bags seal tight around tube leaving no dust. Riccar and Panasonic bypass vacuums are similar in style to your Cirrus.
I have noticed if I use the hose the other various filters get dusty and chamber gets dust. It could be how I used hose but just an observation.

well

I use the hose all the time, but I take the Cirrus hose out and connect it to a 12-foot hose for hard floor and above floor cleaning, so I don't have to deal with such a short hose. Weird that using the hose would cause dust in the chamber.

My friend gave me that coffee table and leather Sofa years ago because she wanted something smaller. I can't remember where she said so bought it but I think it was Dillards

There is no need to change the filter before the particle “cake” which builds up on the media causes enough restriction to be a problem. If you have enough airflow, you’re good to go!

Incidentally, I’ve never understood changing filters prematurely. It turns out that filtration efficiency goes up, not down, as a filter is used. The only reason a filter should be changed is if it’s becoming too restrictive.
