Funny and crazy-NO REHEARSAL!!!Both the VACUUM CLEANER and demenstrator were inept-the machine is hard to use-changing between modes.Wouldn't buy that vacuum.when she was using it as an upright on the first carpet sample(the dirt was snowplowed) and the last-it didn't even pick up.And loved how she showed how easy it was to dump the dirt cup.All OVER the area she just cleaned-----"Propman to Stage#3--bring the Henry-studio mess to clean up!"Yes-HEPA filter-but when you empty the dirt cup---"

I just don't get the Bagless mentality, yes you may save money on not buying bags, but, those clouds of dust that come flying up out of the bin when you empty the damned things cannot be good for your health!!! :S

I remember seeing a sales pitch video on youtube for some modern vac, they used a Kirby as the "nasty, dirty, unhealthy vac, where the person emptying it was squeezing the paper bag to make these small clouds of dust escape from the bag, but, the veritable nuclear mushroom cloud that comes from a bagless, well, I know which setup I prefer...

Heck, even a Kirby shake-out bag is cleaner to empty out, the bagless vacs I've used (Lux vitesse, Hitachi advantedge, and dyson dc04) were all tip 'n dump, but the Kirby setup contains the dust within the bag, then you gently dump out the dirt onto old newspaper with very little in the way of spillage or dust clouds...

When I used my Kirby,Royal,or other dump bag vacuum-forget the newspaper bit and take the bag off the machine and dump it into the trash,dumpster,or trashbag.much easier and cleaner-and since newspaper sheets are SMALLER now-the newspaper bit is more difficult.and the dirt leakage from between the paper peices when you pick them up.

I've never had a problem with smaller newspaper sheets, I use our local rag for emptying my Kirbys, and aside from being made up of about 3 or 4 sheets, it serves me well, plus I roll it up carefully then deposit it in the compost bin...

I'd find dumping directly into a bin more messy, just like the plastic bagless vacs, not to mention the method the Kirby uses to empty the bag needs the bag & emtor to be attached to the vac, something you can't really do outside...

The method I use is pretty much as Kirby describes in their instructions, drop the nozzle as low as it'll go, unhook the bag from the handle, power up the motor for a couple of seconds, switch off then shake the bag, then dump out onto the newspaper, then repeat but scrape the bag before dumping out, then it's done, just roll & fold the newspaper and toss it out...

Newspaper's free, it's using something that would be thrown out anyway, it's also being turned into compost, so in my view, it's good all round...

use plastic bags to empty my kirby shake out bags. I pull it up around the emptor as far as it will go which prevents any dust from going into the motor or coating the metal housing. I like doing that better than using newspaper.

In the times I have used dump bag vacuums-used them for years-when I lived in apartments.The newspaper bit you would just get the dirt you picked up back into the house again!so At one complex-just take the bag assembly off the machine and just dump it right into the dumpster-no muss or mess-the dirt right into the dumpster.than another complex-just dump the bag into the trash chute.However with the chute method---someone on the floor below must have been dumping their trash into the chute as I was emptying the vac bag in the chute above them--thru the chute I heard-"Quit dumping your sweeper bag until I am done-COUGH-COUGH!" so I waited and finshed dumping the bag-later when I got My NSS M1 vac-same way.or would use the dumpster.At how much the M1 bag holds You DO NOT want to use the paper method-it can hold two bushels of debris.NSS suggests the trash bag method instead.I have used that way too-also with Dyson vacuum dirt cups.

It's all about care and attention, I'm generally pretty careful when emptying my shakeout bags, obviously to prevent it "doing a hoover*" and dumping everything on the floor again, not to mention, you shake the bag with the emtor door closed, which contains the dust and debris...




(*One of them nitpicks about the flaws of the Hoover H1/Type-C bottom-fill setup)

Ok, she might not be informed to the desirable extent, but yet - I'd buy anything from her. When caught having made a mistake she still keeps her good mood and can laugh at herself (punching back at the "inquiring" guy blends with "please don't mention this again" and a laugh).
This is so lovely, so normal and so HUMAN. Very appealing, more than any knowledgeable expert talking your ears to a good bleeding.
I like her! ;-) She is so "like you and me", so just like anyone. (And who of us hasn't ever made substantial mistakes?)

Not talking about that vacuum now (its basic idea ist fine but it needs some re-thinking). But just the whole atmosphere is so "come down and off of that bloody sales pitch", yet so "geez, I DID want to make it right, can you forgive me?"

so funny makes me think of a miricle maid

does anyone remember these the Miricle Maid vacuum. When I was younger a guy came to our house and demostrated one and said our electrolux upright was junk while his vac only worked for about 5 minutes and died when he was demonstrating it. I felt so bad for the guy but he still asked if we still wanted it but all of us looked at each other and said politly no.

I think that's a case of Karma biting him where it hurts, comments like that will ALWAYS come back to haunt people...

I'd love to have an in-house vac-demo (don't care who, even a Kirby guy could have a go!!), I could pull out my Kirbys, my Sanitaire, my Tristar, the demo tool, and just for a laugh, the Junior too, and pit their vac against my vacs...

Suffice to say, I wouldn't be buying...

Yes,in emptying the dump bags-shook the bag first with the emptor door closed or the bag mouth held closed to dislodge dust from the pores-and did it again after the bulk of the debris dumpted out of the bag into the receiving container.Oh yes-was kinda amusing to watch the dumpster being dumpted into the trash truck--you would see a cloud of dust come from the trash truck hopper after the dumpster containing sweepings was emptied into the truck-glad I didn't live in the apartment above the area where the dumpsters were emptied on trash day.Hope that apartment residents kept their windows closed!!

I just chuck the dust and debris in the compost, I even cut open full disposable bags (except the miele's, cos I fill that with naaaaasty stuff!!!) and return the dirt to where it belongs, in the dirt...

Well, I've been called "Weird" before....

I actually LIKE dumping the cloth bag out on newspaper...

For some reason, I like to see the "fruits of my labor"....(or as a nod to my buddy TWOCVBLOKE - "labour")

But I did find this out from an old housekeeping book - if you "sprinkle" a little water on the newspaper first, it keeps the dust from flying around. So, perhaps I have too much time on my hands, but it does work. Although, I have no gripe with my vacs that have bags! Depends on the mood, I reckon...

In many home areas there isn't a compost pile or bin to dump the vac bag contents into.So it goes into the trash.Yes,I have been guilty of "bag autopsies" too-you want to see what was picked up-how well the vacuum cleaner did.When on occasion,I usea Rainbow-I dump the water-dirt bin into the plant bed outside the house.

I have the same deal

I like using dump-bag kirbys instead of paper bag vacuums. I also like using bagless vacuums,like uprightman said, "so i can see the fruits of my labor" Anyhow, i have been sick since sunday and havnt even looked at a vacuum.
