how much is a used Dyson worth?

I haven't gotten a new vacuum cleaner in over a year! I'm feelin the need to scratch my vacuum "itch"! Metal, soft bagged, and self-propelled machines are usually my "thang" and I typically despise plastic and bagless machines. However, lately, I've been wanting a Dyson upright. I'd settle for a Fantom because I wanted one when they first came out when I was a teenager, but I know a Dyson is more powerful and better built. I want to keep the cost between 100 and 200 dollars. Do you think I should be able to get a Dyson for that much? What model should I seek out? I now the DC14 and 07 are popular on CL, but if people think I'm paying 300 dollars(that's what people seem to ask for them) for a used plastic vacuum, they are dreaming!

I was on Ebay and was looking @ these things. I know what you mean when you've been wanting a Dyson. They look cool. I tried one @ Sears and I know my Kirby is better but I liked the Dyson to tell you the truth. Now, I've been told time and time again that the Dysons aren't supposed to beat Kirbys but Orecks. I would like to buy one just to have as a fun toy. I think the DC14s are decent for within your price range. On Ebay, there are some "regular" good deals from the big-seller people. If you want some good sellers with good prices on Ebay, e-mail me and I can refer a few to you. Hope this helps!

Make freinds with and check with DTD vacuum dealers such as Kirby,Rainbow,Filter Queen,etc for trade in vacuums-i got one of my Dysons that way-from a Kirby dealer.Was 40 bucks.DC07 All floors.also check with your local vacuum dealers-they may get Dysons as trade ins--or from repairs-some dealers sell machines left over 30 days that are not claimed by customers.got a few vacuums that way-but not Dyson-you may get lucky.

I was selling vacuums at Sears when Dysons came to America... at the time we only had the DC07, so that's the only one I really have experience with. It seems a lot simpler than some of the other models. I've never bought a vacuum on Ebay before... I'd be a little scared to do that, but if I can't find a good deal locally, I may not have a choice.

Well... several year ago I sold Kirbys for a couple days... I hate the Kirby dealer (something about lying to employees about the job, and not paying them when they sell machines SLIGHTLY "annoyed" me)... maybe the Lux dealer would be a better resource.

Sorry you have had bad luck with Kirby dealers-not all of them are that bad-this problem of late employee payments,agressive sales techniques-these are with ANY DTD vacuum sales dealer-I have the sales materials for these-Kirby,Rainbow,Filter Queen,TriStar,and even 'Lux.I don't know if its true-but I heard a rumor that new Areos Lux dealers discard or donate trade in machines.If they are donated-hope to charities.Haven't been able to get trade ins at the dealer out here.I might resume selling vacuums DTD-Kirby is the one-they are popular here and easier to sell.Used to sell TriStar.Late payments is a good reason to keep the dealership small-few as people as possible.The ones here are only a few people.Dyson-like Oreck isn't my favorite vacuum-but have a few of each to round out the collection.Like Oreck-the Dysons are WAY OVERPRICED for what you get.

getting a dyson tomorrow

I'm going to buy a DC14 for 125 tomorrow! I'm excited! Gotta drive to Tampa for it (probably a 90 minute drive), but worth it for sure!
