I paid $25 for mine, but found out after I had bought it the motor was on its last legs. I tracked down a new (used) motor, which was somewhat difficult because it was a 2 speed. The motor I found was from a Filter Queen. I say go for it, as long as the motor sounds good. $35 sounds good to me, mine pulls an insane amount of dirt out of our carpets. If you do buy it, make sure you wash the cloth bag and filters by hand with laundry detergent, preferably something that smells good. I never get a dusty or dog smell from mine, and I love that.
