I had a really, REALLY nice one that I ended up giving to grandma and grandpa a few years back cuz their Hoover Concept One went kaput... I had all of the attachments and all of the original boxes that came with it.. I really wish I woulda held on to it though cuz that is my fav Kirby of all time.. I'd love to get my hands on another some day...

I DO, I DO!!!!

I love my Omega! It is great. Does the Classic 1CR have the same bag as the Omega? I seem to have the 1CR bag, but I don't know. I am actually refurbishing my Omega right now. Does anyone have an extra Magic Finger Belt Lifter sticker that I could have? When I peeled mine off, there are a few areas that are white because that is what plastic seems to do when you bend and stretch it. I would liked my Omega to look brand new. Hopefully I will have this vacuum done in a few days. Boy, does it take a long time to refurb. a Kirby! But I love it! They seem like great vacuums compared to other uprights of this caliber. For example, I don't know how it compares to a Royal, but I know they are somewhat similar. Does anyone know? Anyway, it took me 2 Omegas and a "new" bag to make my Omega original. The "new" bag seems to be a 1CR, but again, I don't know. Also, my handle extension sticker does not have the Omega sign on it. Is this original? I have seen another restored Omega with a bag with the Omega, the handle extension with the Omega, and of course the Magic Finger Belt Lifter. I can't wait to see my "new" Omega, or rather after restoration. It should look very good. Along with my Air-Way 88 Mark II!

I remember the day/night we got ours...

My moms classic omega, we got in 1975. It was around 9:30 at night and we were mostly in bed as a family. My parents were watching TV in their room and the door bell rings. I could then hear my father run from their bedroom to the kitchen door and then talking to a man as they were coming in. I went out from my bedroom to see what was going on. I could see the man was a salesman and wondered why my father let him in this late. My father was dressed in his night gown.

Anyway, my dad brought him into the living showed him where he could do the demoonstrating and the man went back out to his car to bring in his equipment. The man was a Kirby man, wow I was excited. The salesmen then brought all his stuff in and began. My father sat there in a chair and watched smoking his pipe. I was sitting on the couch in all excitment. After the man was finished my dad said I need to go and talk to my wife, so he went badk to the bedroom and asked. Of course I new my mom wanted one cause my father got rid of our Dual 50 because he thought it was s dust maker and bought mom a Hoover dial a matic that was self propelled. Mom hated the Hoover cause it would roll back on here feet.

Of course mom said yes and then my father came back and hasstled with the guy on price and then dad bought it. I was so excited. Wow and I thought to myself, in record time that man sold that Kirby. I as 10 years old

So yes I sure do have a classis Omega. With all the attachments

The Classic Omega I had, had a bag that was tan in color with tiny rubber "speckles" all over it.. it had a patch on it that said kirby Classic and then had the little omega emblem on it. I remember thinking to myself that this particular bag didn't look as big as all of the other kirby bags I have seen when inflated. It seemed to have a slimmer profile. I have seen Omega bags that are mustard/gold in color almost identicle to the first classic but the patch on the bag had the omega emblem on it. I have also seen a few omega bags that were tan in color and had thin rubber looking stripes on them running verticle, again along with the patch. I am currently in the process of trying to locate an original bag for my classic I with the patch.. the last one i had had apparently been exposed to moisture at some point and the spring thats inside the fabric at the bottom of the bag rusted and busted..

Classic omega

I bought My mother one back in 1974 for her birthday as she had the Kirby model Dual santronic 50 and I was working for Bell kirby partime, so I bought one for her. That's one kirby I really didn't care for but i do love the cr-1 which is in my collection.

Do you still have that bag?

If so, may I have it? I would like to try and repair it. I have a "replacement" bag (the one with rubber stripes running down vertically) that I could trade for that. I am not sure if my bag is a replacement bag, but it is in VERY good shape. It looks perfect. I also have an extra Sani-Emptor for the Omega. It is in fair shape.

And news of my polishing of the Omega: I am almost done as of today. I might continue more tonight. All I have left to do is assemble the front head and polish the Sani-Emptor. That's it! However, I am disapointed in the polishing; I don't have a bench polisher to properly polish the vacuum. I must do it all by hand. And thus, the polishing is probably not as good as it could be. There are a lot of spots in the aluminum. Does anyone know how to take care of that? A bench polisher, probably? I am using both a cloth to apply and buff, and for deep-ground oxidation, #0000 grade steel wool. It turns out that the stuff I had is #0000. That still doesn't get it out. Sadly, it leaves tiny surface scratches as well, that would probably be taken care of with the polisher. So I need a polisher!

I regularly throw Classics, Classic Omegas, and Classic III's in the trash. To me they are too new to be collectible (we each have our own criteria) and too old to sell customers who come into my store. If someone has a fondness for these models let me know - I'll let them have them for little or nothing. I hate to see something someone else likes get destroyed.

Hmm...

Well, i do need a few parts to an Omega. I need an original bag, a new handle assembly, and the attachments and hose. I would LOVE a Classic III with attachments and hose in good shape. It is red, and red is my FAVORITE color. I just hope shipping isn't too much...I don't have an income yet

Rexairman, do you throw away Traditions as well? And what about Dual Sanitronic and earlier machines? I would love to find a Tradition that uses paper bags but has the same outer bag material used in the Heritage series. These would have been manufactured in 1981.

I have about 4 or 5 Omegas in my attic that are in one piece. I have several others that aren't.
