Looking at Joel Zambrano's (mazda3sp05) Kirby Dual Sanitronic 80 video that he used Heritage 1-HD trim on (click on link), this leads me to ask you exactly how many of you have dressed up such older pre-1970 Kirby models to look like '70s-'80s models?

This makes me want to ask further: how many of you dressed up a D-80 to resemble any of the members of the Classic trilogy (Classic 1-CR, Classic Omega 1-CB and Classic III 2-CB), or the Tradition?

For example: To make a Classic III out of a D-80, you take the bag, handle, cord, and wheels. Then, with some modifications to accommodate the D-80's safety switch, attach the Classic III nozzle.

I don't see any point in doing it. I have never seen it as far as a heritage nozzle on a pre classic kirby.
You would have less power because of the larger nozzle.

I do see so often kirbys done up in classic and tradition.

I always say a Kirby aint pretty if it's not original. I'm an originality freak when it comes to vacuums.

I will not do that to my D-80s, I like the green color. I have thought of changing my D-50 to red like my 518. I just can’t my head around the color of the D-50; it reminds me of my children’s early years…

I have put the handle and bag unit from a Heritage onto a D50. I've not put a Heritage nozzle on it, and don't plan to. I like the look of my D50/Heritage and I did it because it reminded me of the Kirby ComVac 1400. My 'FrankenKirby' looks good, but it needs bearings and some new trim pieces. Here is a picture of her.

Do u think it increased on suction?? I think it increase in suction because bag but not much . maybe little more if i upgrade with mini-emptor instead heritage emptor?? I am still keeping my original parts they are on exellent shape. The way i heard kirby may stop making D-80 bags.

If I had an incomplete example, I might do something like that, but, taking a complete one and changing it to permanently look like another model, that's just a waste of a good Kirby really... :&#92

I think the handle bale and handle grip of the D80- thru Legend 2 is more stable and makes any 500 series machine look neater and more professional,,like the Kirby means BUSINESS! The single pole handle of the early machines, 500 series and D50 is flimsy, and makes the Kirby hard to stear or turn.
Of course this makes any early Kirby or 500 machine not original, but if i use any of these to actually clean my house or use it for any length of time, i definatly use a Heritage style handle bale and grip.
Ive seen some vac stores put the single pole handle for sale on the Classic-Legend machines, and that sure looks weird,,but To each his own!

What I meant to say was that some of the genuine replacement parts may not look exactly like the original "day one" versions. For example, the current D-80 replacement bag is a darker shade of green and the original had a lighter shade of green. Also, the replacement bags for the Classic 1-CR and Classic Omega 1-CB have no patches on the front of them.

I understand now. good thing u told me about it. I wasn't share about the new bag color, i didn't like it. good thing installed heritage bag and proserve D-80 Bag, wheels.

I really like the look of that Kirby 561 with Classic III handle and a Legend II bag! I mean it shouldn't be done of original parts are there, but if they aren't then why not? Make use of the machine!!

As for the first link- I can understand wanting to convert to disposable bags (I hate shakeout bags, yuck!) but to change the nozzle is pretty stupid (just pick up a newer Classic-Legend unit, they are so cheap!)

The oirginal d80 handle was two pieces and hard plastic. Therefor they were pron to cracking easily. Eventually Kirby changed this somewhere in the classic line.

where do you get the grey comvac style trim

where can i find the grey trim like on the comvac, to make a 562 look close to a heritage or red trim to look close to a classic iii or legend ii
