How long have Bissell been producing Upright Deep Carpet Cleaners in the UK?

Just wandering, as I have seen one in a 2001 Argos Catalogue, very similar to todays designs, at around a similar price. But do any of you possibly know of any earlier models?

Bissell have only been producing their carpet upright washers since the 1990s. Before that the UK had the manual mechanical push sweepers and electric foam shampooer roller. However you should check out their history via their website (see link). There's a cylinder/canister model produced in 1979 called the SC before their Big Green machine was made.

So they're not that old then, hmmm...

I do remember (we probably still have it somewhere) that we have a 1980's Bissell Carpet Master Mechanical Shampoo that Nan gave to us in the Mid 90's. She got it out of a catalogue. Will have to root out for it.
