How does one replace older Electrolux wheels?

Does anyone have a special technique for replacing older Electrolux wheels, particularly those found on the AE and AF? I have been told that one can pry up the end of the axle crimp (?) but I don't see anything that appears to have been crimped.

Replacement wheels for these machines as well as several other Luxes are still available, though maybe not in the correct color, but nonetheless, will fit perfectly on the machine.

These are the wheels with the hubcap? On the wheel backside lift up the 4 bent tabs and remove the hubcap. The wheels are held on the axle with a spring circlip. The front axle is welded to the plate so hopefully your axle is fine. Rear wheels the same hubcap but individual axles simply bolted and clipped in place.

These wheels they I am referring to are on an AE. There isn't really a hub cap per se. What happened is that the wheel's center broke from the outer portion. It looks like originally the wheel was put on and the metal axle end was crimped. I tired to pry the edges to no avail.

I am wondering if there is a such thing as an axle that has open ends with threads to which a wheel is put on and then a screw locks the wheel on and the screw head would serve as a pseudo hub cap.

I've changed out wheels on my AE, G, and R. What I have done was to uncrimp the one side. A pair of needle-nosed pliers will work. Slip the wheel off the axle, and slide the axle out of it's support. (Not on the G's front axle.) I then ground down the area that was "uncrimped". After that, I drilled a hole about 3/8ths in. straight down inside the axle, I don't remember what size bit, replaced the wheel and axle assembly, and threaded the hole I made with a self tapping screw. I then remove that screw and replaced it with one that looks similar to the other side of the axle. On the R, I simply epoxied a rivet and washer instead of the screw. This method has worked well for me.
