How do U vacuum?

Kevin, Good questions.

The Convertible remained, basically the same for a very long time.
The "Neptune Green" model 69 was the FIRST to have the white handle. Early models have the red switch. You'll find them also on the model 68, 67, The HOOVER logo was imprinted on the handle grip as well. Later, you'd see just the circle on the handle grip, and the attachments. That was because HOOVER started making machines re-badged for others. It was a cost reduction.-

The 1076 has a little different base plate: with "channels" for 'edge cleaning'. Was no big deal. The 1076 also had the 4-position rug height adjustment. SOME of the 69s also had a little 'pouch' inside the vinyl bag, to hold an extra.
Both are "collectable" (IF you like HOOVER products). All of this info comes to you directly from the history books/documents from North Canton.
I hope this helps.

That 3 figure

cleaner, very might have been the Convertible, model 69. It was the one from the "Vault"... A.K.A. "Models and Samples". I have the sign that was mounted outside that vault.IT and a few other things from there are now in my home. THey'll be displayed in 2022 when The VCCC convention is held here in Scranton.
When I get my "gallery" finished, that sign will grace the wall, in addition to many other goodies.

Thanks John.......

for the explanation! I just saw an old thread where you had a pic of a 69 and a 1070 side by side. I like the styling better of mine over the 69.

Mechanically, did Hoover cheapen anything inside the 1076 versus the venerable 69?

By the way..............

I believe that the "69" was the only thing Hoover made in that color. There are af ew other vacs CLOSE to Neptune, but, not the same. Ceylon yellow is the color for the 1076. The only drawback on that model, and the 1070, was that the lens could tend to shrink. THAT was rectified on later models using that lens style. You'll find them on the Bicentennial, a few other metal bases, as well as the " plastic base" Convertibles.
Probably too much info. But...............

No. NOTHING was

cheapened , yet.
You'll also see that the red Hoover badge on the metal base, became a smaller, sunken "sticker', rather than the large, metal one on the 69. The 4 height rug adjustment (I believe was done by a man who was blind) IS a great improvement. But, mechanically... both are "all Hoover".

Awesome......

because I really like the styling of the 1076 a little better than the 69.

We had Rexair for the hard floors and Hoover uprights for the carpets, when I was growing up. I'm sure one of the last Hoover vacs I saw in the house was a 69 or something very similar....I recognize the light and the top molding.

Sucked up a lot of small toy parts....those old Hoovers.
