Are there guidelines for hosting? I've got little if anything of interest to others (yet) but all the meets seem to be fun. Is it usually pot luck or host provided (no problems there!), are there adult beverages?

Oh I'm sure there's all kinds of beverages, it mainly just depends on if there's kids around or not!

Usually at a meet,

one has displays, a repair "clinic" or "how to" session, perhaps a trip to a notable local vac shop, a contest, food, fun, photos, a sale, buy, trade, swap....a giveaway "pile" or sale area.

Some meet at a local restaurant, some might bring a dish to share, some hosts prepare the food. Sodas, coffee, tea, perhaps 'iced tea" are served. As far as "adult beverages", it all depends on if there are ANY underage guests, if there is a lot of driving, etc.
No one ever drinks in my home, so, that's out here. (some people think I have or had a drinking problem. NOT true, I simply don't have it here, (for many reasons). I usually cook something fun. Sometimes, (Summer), it's a cook out (barbecue), sometimes, it's a crockpot dish, sometimes I use the Lenox (depending on mood, time, theme, and attitude).Once, I used Lenox china I was accused of "showing off" THEY never returned. I used to take my friends to a vac shop. I've stopped that. If there is a nice local attraction, you might visit there.
Rules at my home are: NO ONE smokes (most people don't anyway), IF a door is closed, it's closed for a REASON. Some vacuums are to be looked at, some to be played with. The cats, Arthur and Murphy come down from their apartment after things calm down. They are my beloved cats. EVERYONE always makes a fuss over them.
Lots of photos are taken and posted. I can share a few from past meets at my home. THe general rules are: do what
you want, are comfortable with, etc. I've had a few friends stay overnight. THat's always fun, too.
This is just what "I" do. hope it helps.
John.
