Hose repair

Greetings! I am an old member of Automatic Washer with a cracked hose problem. I adore this funky machine I have, it still works, but the hose is broken. I brought it to A1 in Roseville & they turned me away. I was able to find the part number, but Sears does't have the hose. Though a Sears machine, it may have been manufactured by Samsung. The controls on the handle still work. Am I screwed? Will there be no way to fix this? I SO appreciate any feedback!

There's a distributor of (what they call) vacuum hose varieties.
Vacuumland members are experienced pros or veteran DIYers if you
need advice.

My Hose

Thanks FCS3! Though I've no real talent for tinkering, if I'm left with a machine that runs, but the hose is useless, I will try myself. I see that one choice reads, "non-electric." Does that mean that the rest are? Is there a particular way one measures the hose to get the right diameter? And what site did you copy this from? Oh woe is me.

The best way is to contact their customer service

Measure the length of hose needing replacement.
If it has fittings on either end, allow 4" to 6" more.
measure the hose diameter, both outer and inner.
Choose a color.

When you contact them, tell them you'd like to replace
the hose on a Kenmore canister vac, and that the part
is no longer available from any supplier.
They may want the model# & part# to check their inventory
or the Sears parts catalog for dimensions.
They probably won't have the actual Kenmore part, so ask
if they would sell you a length of matching hose, and give
advice on how you can attach it to your fittings.

Matthew, first of all, your vacuum was not made by Samsung. It was made by LG Electronics for Sears. They were also responsible for the Kenmore Magic Blue canister as well.

There was a Hoover Windtunnel canister that was made by LG back about 10 years ago. It was VERY popular, & they are pretty easy to find. That machine hose end & hose handle look like a pretty close match to your Kenmore, & the hose material is virtually identical. If you find a repair shop that saves old parts & happens to have a hose from that Hoover laying around, it may just fit as is & just have to fit the hose handle from your Kenmore to make it work with your wand & powerhead. If not, you could always bring your old hose into the shop & have them transplant the hose material from the Hoover hose onto your handle & machine end.

There is also one other solution you may want to try. There used to be a vinyl sleeve available to repair vacuum hoses. You would take off the hose handle, slide the sleeve over the hose where it is torn, & use a hairdryer to shrink the sleeve around the hose material & fix the tear. Check around on a few of the parts websites, it may still be available.
