Hoover's 'Eco' Cleaners seem to look very poor

Most of them only seem to get 'A' for Energy, but a 'G' grade for emissions which means that practically they're spewing as much dust out back in to the air as their sucking in in the first place.

Average ratings for Hard Floor/Carpet cleaning & most of the range (bar the Dustmanager, Purepower/Enigma, Turbo Power, Velocity & Globe) seem to be direct filter cyclones which will clog/overheat.

Not very good at all offerings by Hoover considering most Eco Vax models are Cyclonic with a shroud instead of a big pleated filter & get better grades on models such as the Air (A's across the board).

I have seen hoovers eco range on the argos website, was looking through it when I got my vax air eco. I have to say, this labelling system seems to live up to expectations, at least for the hard floor and carpet pick up they gave the eco air as I don't think I have ever had a vacuum that deep cleans as well as the eco air, and it is great on hard flooring; the regulators gave "A" on both accounts, as well as for emissions and energy consumption. Even the £70 vax energise gets "A" rating for carpet.

Im still wary about these energy labels.

I wouldn't be so sure about those ratings: Argos appear to have put them on, not just because it is the law, but also they're one of the first franchises to do so and pulls interested buyers in. Other sites haven't bothered as yet though and I can see why - the ratings are confusing.

The Miele vacuum for example that gets an overall "A" rating energy is the "new" Miele C3 S8 model - but in essence if you look closely, this model only features an AirTeq suction only floor tool. Yet the performance on both hard floor and carpet hasn't got an A rating - so how can this be an A-rated vacuum cleaner? Yes I KNOW that it means energy efficiency only, but how many buyers are going to look at that and think that A only means efficiency?

The other aspect is that I don't believe most of the ratings. When I look at my beloved Miele brand in Argos, some of the models are far better than the ratings suggest. I know from my own experience that my Miele S8340 Ecoline is excellent at picking up dust because it comes with a turbo brush, suction only floor head and a parquet floor head - and if I feel it picks up great when I see the dust gone: sorry but I don't need a daft energy label to tell me otherwise.
