Nothing strange about it at all
Or new about it either. This design of cleaner has been around a LONG time although it seems to have had some cosmetic updates. It was first sold in the UK in the mid 1960s as the (hard bag) Electrolux 152, later 160 and 170, until the early 1980s. Although only a hard bag in the UK, it was also sold in the US with a soft bag (not branded Electrolux) and even without a bag as a power nozzle accessory.
The 152/160/170 was not a bad cleaner at all, somewhat similar to a Hoover Junior in performance, although quite a lot quieter. It would be interesting to see how this one performs although it seems expensive (to me) for what it is.
