Hoover Windtunnel Air

So, I know some of you were going to buy the remanufactured Hoover Windtunnel Air that was on sale right before Christmas on the Hoover website.

Well, I got one & I really like it. When Wal-Mart carried them, I always wanted one, but I wouldn't bring myself to spend the full asking price.

It has been my daily driver now since I got it. I really like the way it grooms the carpet. I know Fred Stachnik & some others mentioned that they had purchased or were going to purchase one.

So now that you have had yours awhile, what do you think? How do you guys like them?

Our equivalent machine is the Vax Max Air range - I have the orange one, basic model with short power cord and short, useless 1.1 metre hose. Had to buy an extension hose that lasso's over the machine since it lacks the additional hook that the Reach model has (similar to the Windtunnel Air).

I agree David, I am also very happy with how lightweight it is & quiet! It's so easy to grab and go thru the house. My other vacs have been sitting idle since I received this one.

It cleans a lot better than my dc 18 slim, lighter too, but not quite as easy to work with in my mind.Much better deep cleaner on the carpet though. Clever packaging.

I was going to jump on one of those refurbs. Great deal! It was at a time when I was wrestling if I could fit any more vacs in my place, and whether I really needed another vac.

I've only heard good things about this vac. I think if I were just at the very start of building my fleet I would have jumped on it. One thing that kinda turns me off, though, is how plasticky it looks. That's secondary to performance and usability in my book, but that may be one factor why I held off.

Anyone having structural issues with the plastic? Hopefully by now they've figured out durability in plastics.

I dont know if the Windtunnel model is the same (but it looks like it might be) - the Vax Mach Air is impossible to move on hard, level floor surfaces, when the motor brush roll is switched off.

The 3 in 1 Dyson copied tool is also a waste of time - see my link/thread on "hopeless accessories."

Another issue I don't like is the high noise factor and the plastic floor head that does helpfully come off with two catches at the front, but then resembles a flimsy piece of plastic.

Whoops also forgot to add that whenever the vacuum is in the upright position, the brush roll will stop moving - but it will revolve the moment the the vacuum is lifted UNLESS you manually switch the brush roll off.

Durability & Other Issues

I have been using mine now for 2 months.Haven't had any issues with the durability of the plastics so far. I don't like the dusting/crevice tool combo, however I have other vacs in my fleet better suited for that.

For $50 I feel like it's a great vac & in comparison to others in it's price range, or even more pricey vacs, it's still a keeper!

I bought mine from Walmart when they first came out and I still have no complaints about it. It has great suction and is really good at deep cleaning. I like how the Windtunnel path is exposed too, it gives it a neat look. I especially like mine for bare floors and rugs. It really seems to get the job done efficiently!

I just got one from Sears & VERY happy with it, the WindTunnel chamber & hose clear paths are nice thing to have.

The crevice/duster combo is pathetic.

I know exactly what you mean! The worst aspect about this tool is that you can't even store any other tool instead! Take the upholstery tool for example - when slid down to the end of the crevice tool, it's like trying to slide a cup along fabric with a stick on the end - not very practical and far from easy to physically clean with it. At least the bristle part makes a good attempt.
