This is my Mom's Hoover Waxer. It is 60+ years old and spends most of its time in the garage. Yet, when I plugged it in she started right up. Would take her home but I don't think my floors can be waxed.

You would need the waxing pads and paste wax in order to wax with it. I have a GE floor scrubber I use to wash my concrete garage floor with. Not sure if its harming the brushes using them on concrete but it works very well for the job.

I have one waxing pad and am hoping to find the other. What would really be great is if I could find mop like brushes and use them to clean the floors rather than wax them. I saw a new waxer like machine that does that but it is not in the same league quality wise as the Hoover.

That's a groovy '60s Hoover with what some have dubbed the Mickey Mouse hood style. It appears to be a model 5131 D.I. (with a double insulated cord). The rating plate is typically on the bottom and viewable when the brush that conceals it is removed. It sold alongside the Bittersweet Convertible Special model 34 and Constellation model 444, so that is likely the color name of your hood. The 5131 sans the D.I. designation has a hood color of Light Venetian Gold. Marketing years were 1964 to 1968, but no ads I located included the D.I. designation or any colors.

Regarding the mop-like brushes, you could try using lambs wool pads like those in the attached photo.

When you can, please post a photo of your G-E polisher and provide the model ID (3 places it could be: back of hood, handle, underneath). I am working at collecting photos and timeline information.

Thank you. Using lambs wool pads is an excellent idea. Now...where to find them?
